The competition pools are sanitized, balanced and ozonated and are as safe as any water on the planet. If you refer to the trialthletes, that's a different story but anyone who swims in any untreated (and even some treated with chlorine only) body of water runs the possibility of serious health risks ranging from e. coli, pseudomonas, cryptosporidium parvum, Naegleria fowleri (brain-eating ameoba), giardia lamblia....on and on). I would never advise anyone concerned about their health and safety to swim in the ocean (or a lake or river) unless ****** to.
Being an American, why in the world would you wish that? Not very patriotic, especially considering that these girls are true amateurs. I'm definitely rooting for them and all American athletes to do well (so far, I haven't been disappointed). These athletes work their asses off in order to represent our country in international competition. We owe it to them to return that dedication by supporting them. Love Katie Ledecky making that cheating Russian PED user Yulia Elfemova look like an idiot when she waggled an "I'm number 1" finger to the cameras before Ledecky totally destroyed her in the finals. Go USA girls!

Serbia men's basketball almost pulled the upset against the USA losing by 3. They're impressive.
They've played somewhat uninspired the last couple games. They're apparently having too much "fun" on their little cruise ship...I hope they lose, sorry Jaeger.
They're arrogant and spoiled...Australia nearly beat them and now Serbia.

Hey, root against the US all you want. Doesn't seem to be having much effect on our medal count so far so I'm not bothered by it, just curious about what would encourage such a reaction. I don't know of too many Olympic fans who are rooting against their own country.

He's wrong. Chemistry is an exact science. The "little mistake" they made was dumping hydrogen peroxide in the pool instead of sodium hypochlorite. H2O2 serves to neutralize free chlorine and that's why the water turned green. I don't know how that mistake could possibly be made but it evidently was. Fortunately, it apparently only happened in one of the diving pools. Notice how the competition pool is nice and blue like it should be. I guarantee that maintenance man is looking for a job as we speak.
