I want to add one thing here and you can take it for what it is worth. I am not trying to be combative or insulting but this exchange just highlights the real issue and that is the distrust that lies between the partisans of each party. You served your country in the military and I respect and appreciate your service. You used to be a republican and your life experiences for whatever reason has caused you to see things differently. I haven't reached a point in my life that I have become disenchanted with the policies and ideology of those of my ilk. And I don't think the conrtant bickering is going to change any minds. We come from two different schools of thought and I will have to accept the fact that we as Americans are deeply divided and that doesn't look like that will change anytime soon.

It still comes down to what the Republican Party is selling and what they think we're willing to buy.
Republicans: Freedom and Liberty (unlike those scumbag Liberals), unless we think you're going to vote for someone else. In that case, we're going to call your very citizenship into question. But don't get us wrong, Freedom and Liberty...yeehaw.
Republicans: Reign in government spending.....because we created an agency that never should have been created and that's where your money should go. But other than the multi-billion dollar bullshit we want, we need to reign in government spending.
Republicans: It's all about the Bill of Rights and the Founding Fathers. But just ignore the part where they vehemently opposed allowing Christianity or any other religion into government....they were just making a funny.
Republicans: Obama has made the economy worse and that's why no one should get unemployment or welfare or foodstamps because the economy that Obama made worse is doing so well that anyone not making 50k a year is lazy and stoopid and on ***** and there's no excuse for that in such a healthy economy that Obama has made worse.
This last election made it clear to me that Republicans have reduced themselves to hoping that people are ignorant enough to believe the **** that they're slinging, if they say it often enough.

Does voter fraud happen? yes it does but it's in such smalll numbers that it's essentially non existant. Between 2000 and 2010, there's only been 13 cases of in-person voter impersonation

A judge at this very moment is reviewing as to why the Obama administration saw fit to ******* Section 215 of the Patriot Act. That includes wiretapping and determining the location of private citizens through their cell phone use. Not once during this discussion has Mayhem made mention of the trampling upon our civil liberties by this administration. It will not be until after Obama leaves office will the extent of this will be made known. The Bush administration even sought clarification in 2008 yet Holder and Obama continue to run roughshod through the use of the NSA and the IRS and the Bush administration is the one using Gestapo tactics. How about for once get your facts straight. Never once did the Bush administration emplement any tactics that were not within Patriot Act guidelines. Disagree with the Patriot Act all you want but he at least followed what it allowed. Obama and Holder have gone beyond the limits and is why the judge is reviewing it in secrecy as to not risk national security. So now you are defendimg that which you don't even have the first detail of. ********* of section 215 is what is in question here. As for Cruz can you respond within 2 minutes as to what your biggest gripes with him are? Without a crash course by Google? You know nothing about the man other than that he is a republican christian senator. They gave companies unrestricted access to your entire life including using neighbors, co workers, your credit and anything else they can find to collect debt. they handed out unlimited power to companies and to government to absolutely ******* our privacy. They used the loophole of allowing Lexus Nexus type companies to compile huge databases on every American just like the KGB once did, and then the government buys the information from them. Since they didn't collect the information, it navigated them around the law. You have said you use companies like Lexus Nexus and I have told you before that I have a friend who's husband worked for them.

Apparently over half the Republicans in the Senate are "RINOs". The Senate just voted to end debate on Ted "Sam I Am" Cruz's attempt to hold the nation's credit rating hostage in order to get what he wanted.
The Senate voted, 79-19, to move forward on the bill, clearing the required 60-vote hurdle. Twenty-five Republicans joined all the Democrats and 19 Republicans opposed. Two Republicans did not cast votes.

Any herd ****** will tell you that there is (perceived) safety in numbers - even though herd ******* tend to be the dumbest and most helpless in nature. Hell, how hard is it to go to a meeting with a bunch of other sheep and just nod your head when the political evangelist tells you to? Yeah, that takes mucho guts. What does following the crowd get you? I don't know. Let's ask the people who followed Jim Jones into the jungle and see what they tell us. Oh, that's right, we can't. Cause they're all dead!
You can think that being a loyal and obedient disciple to a political party (instead of to the republic) is the way to go if you want to. But like I said, what we're experiencing now is EXACTLY what George Washington warned us about. I get paid rather well to let data determine my course of action in business. And I am very agnostic in my approach. But your lot, you have to put your fingers to the winds of politics and see what the party bosses tell you before you can figure out whether you're supposed to be for or against something. IMO, that represents intellectual laziness and true cowardice. Stand up! Be a man (or a woman) and think for yourself!

And what does being a RINO really mean? It means that someone is not being a good follower. It means that someone has stepped out of line and is thinking for himself. It means that someone has broken from... the herd. "Group think" is taking intellectual laziness to an extreme.
Oh yes let someone that has no political affiliation dictate what i should believe or what party I align myself with. It is called fucking core beliefs and ideology and it just so happens that conservatives are who I agree with. Not republicans. And as you all say we are in the minority now so it takes far more backbone to be a partisan than an independent any day of the week.
