Will the next President of The United States be a Democrat or Republican?

That's all, that's the question.

I'll bet a hundred euro that he is either Democrat or Rebublican if you have no other major political parties and in general the ruling party loses so he must be a Republican.

I wonder if the next president will be American. ;)

Yes

If Hillary is President then the President is a Democrat. If she runs it looks like she has a good chance but it looked that way for her in 2008 also. Basically, who knows?

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I think a lot of it depends on whether or not the U.S. is back in recession by 2015-16. If it is, then Obama and the Democrats will "own" that one. And whether or not we're in recession, I think it depends even more on who the Republicans run: a pragmatist, who can win states outside of the neo-Confederate south or a far right ideologue, who can only win states in the neo-Confederate south.

After Romney lost, a lot of conservatives claimed that he wasn't conservative enough and he lost because so many conservatives stayed home. What they miss (in addition to the fact that they're the ones who nominated this guy over "true conservatives") is that he won the states where being on the far right is most important. Getting more conservatives to vote in states where you won anyway, does nothing - you'll still lose the blue and (especially) the purple states. Eventually, possibly, maybe the GOP will figure out that the presidential contest is a state-by-state battle, not a national battle for popular votes.

Personally, I'd love to see Ross Perot get the band back together and get behind Chris Christie and Corey Booker on a 3rd party ticket. That sure as hell would shake up the apple cart for Repubs and Dems alike! :nanner:

Republicans don't seem to have any serious contenders except for Bush 3.0 and I don't think that's going to happen as far as winning an election goes. Chris Christie isn't a serious contender because he's not NeoCon enough, though he's got the bulldog personality that a lot of conservatives seem to be wanting in a candidate. Romney will be relegated to the dumpster though Sarah Palin might make a grab for a possible candidacy and likely fail. Ryan will probably try to hitch himself to someone as a potential VP candidate but will never get any backing as a Presidential candidate since he's got no real political capital after the Romney campaign failed. Then there's McCain. I'm sure he'll pop up somewhere in some way along with Rand Paul. I don't really know who will show up on the Democrat side except for Hillary Clinton.

I'd hit that.

What's more likely is that I'll end up voting for either the Libertarian or Green candidate (reconcile that one).

For all the hatred for Obama that the Repubs profess, that last batch of candidates was a virtual clown car. If that's the best they can do when there's a mooslim in office, I give them no chance of winning in 2016.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I'm hoping for Jessie Ventura.

I think it depends on who the Republican candidate will be and on how the Republican lunatics (such as Louis Gohmert) will behave.
If the usual lunatics keep calm, someone like Chris Christie actually could possibly win, even against Hillary.
If these guys start to open their big mouthes like they did last time, the GOP doesn't stand a chance.

What happens to Hillary if Joe Biden jumps in with Obama support? How would a President Hillary with VP Joe look to Dems? Christie may sit this one out. He'll get reelected for Governor and may need more of a record. He's still got a jobs problem here. AC continues to shrink in business. Sports betting has been shut down by the courts. I don't know how he plays on the national stage either. Will he still call reporters stupid at press conferences? Anyone from the right that even wispers the name Bush should not be allowed to vote. I also think that any republican on the hill will get hammered. The accomplished less and less every year. Isn't that guy Gofer from The Love Boat a Republican? Maybe we can run him.

Too early to call, we don't know who plans on running. A Blue State Republican or a Red State Democrat would make things interesting. I would really like to see a nice boring moderate, no extreme lefties or loony teaparty righties.

If Romney was the best strategy they could muster, then I think we'll be seeing Hilary in the White House.

In, fact, the most dangerous opponent for Hillary may not be a Republican but one of her fellow democrat, such as Elizabeth Warren for example...
