WWE responds to charges against RVD and Sabu
By Ed Williams III
July 5, 2006

World Wrestling Entertainment earlier this week announced it was investigating five violations, including drug possession, levied against Rob Van Dam and Sabu by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. WWE announced today that based on information gathered over the past few days, Van Dam has been suspended without pay for 30 days and Sabu has been fined $1000. These actions are consistent with the Wellness Policy at WWE.

According to the Ironton Tribune, Rob Van Dam and Sabu were pulled over on U.S. 52, near Patrick Street in Hanging Rock, Ohio at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday night. The two were apparently driving from their performances at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena earlier in the evening.

According to the Ohio State Police, as reported by the Ironton Tribune, Van Dam was initially stopped for speeding. When troopers approached his vehicle, they smelled marijuana and performed a search. Troopers found RVD in possession of 18 grams of marijuana and five Vicodin, prescription pain pills. Sabu was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also had nine pills that were not immediately identifiable, but were known to be controlled substances, according to the OSHP. Both were cited and posted bond at the scene.

Batista comes back tonight. what do you guys think will happen with him? i think he'll go after Mark Henry.
wouldn't surprise me to see him take a heel turn and go after Rey Mysterio and the World Title, that would shake things up a bit

Hulk & Brooke Hogan Confirmed For SNME

The 7/15 Saturday Night's Main Event in Dallas, Texas will feature a "special appearance" by Hulk Hogan and his daughter Brooke. Given the last several weeks of TV, it appears WWE will be shooting an angle with Randy Orton to set up Hogan vs. Orton, possibly for Summerslam, on the NBC special.

i knew sabu was on something ..he had to be..what man in his right mind that wasnt on some good dope..would jump out of a balcony on somebody??...hope he had some good stuff that night..i damn sure would have:thefinger

Sabu only had a pipe. He didn't actually have any drugs on him. Where as RVD had weed. That is why Van Dam is suspended and Sabu only git hit with a fine.

Where as Randy Orton who failed the drugs test(steroids) won't be removed from TV as Hulk Hogan is coming into work a programme with him.

Which TNA wrestler would you like to see in the WWE?

I would like to see Samoa Joe in the WWE...I think he should have be in the WWE already, but I guess the WWE passed up Joe because he lacks the ideal body type the WWE perfers. A dream match of mine would be Joe vs Angle.

I agree with you about AJ being smackdown material....Vince will probably view AJ as just a cruiserweight wrestler. As for Joe only be Smackdown material....if Kenny from the sprit squad can become successful on Raw then Joe is more than worthy of becoming successful on Raw.

Gunner Scott has been demoted to Ohio Valley Wrestling. He was told that he was not working out well on Smackdown and thus he was sent back down to the minor leagues. He'll more than likely be brought back to the main roster, but for now, he's being demoted. He was called up back in April.

Earlier this month Chris Jericho was a special guest on the Pain Clinic. In the segment he stated that he didn’t miss the WWE and then he went on to talk about how he got hooked up with the play he is currently in.

Jericho then went on to talk about past moments in WWF history, coving his debut, and he mainly talked about how he was being put over by the Rock and Austin for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship.

After talking about wrestling he goes on to talk about his current projects, such as his movie work and how everything he got and worked for. He talks about working with Joey Lawrence on Android Apocalypse. During the last segments of the show he finished up with talk about hockey and Canada’s day.

Why Khali was pulled from GAB

It seems as though that The Great Khali was pulled from his Punjabi Prison match with The Undertaker at The Great American Bash because Khali has suddenly come down with a health problem - a diseased liver. He is expected to be taken off the road....which is why The Big Show replaced him in the match.

Super Crazy M.I.A.

For those wondering, Super Crazy didn't wrestle this past Sunday's WWE Great American Bash PPV due to having something in his blood that WWE was unsure of. WWE wants to keep him off the active roster until the problem is resolved.

Speaking of staying off the active roster, reports indicate Matt Hardy has been added to that list of WWE talent that will be taken out of action. Matt Hardy is the fourth (and latest wrestler) to be taken off the road due to blood test results that revealed liver enzyme issues.

Kennedy busted up at GAB

At The Great American Bash, Mr. Kennedy was busted open during his match with Batista when he was rammed into the steel ring steps.

When examined in the locker room, he was found to have a severe laceration of the scalp that exposed his cranium. According to WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios, Kennedy required more than 20 stitches to close the wound.

Orton in the next WWE magazine

In the next issue of WWE Magazine features a story on Randy Orton's suspension he was given a few months back. The article notes that he was sent the anger management classes and was fined $17,000 among other issues. A hot Trish Stratus photo is on the cover of the magazine.

TNA Impact Expansion

Within TNA, the belief is that Impact will expand to two hours "sooner than you think." Spike officials, when contacted, denied that there was anything in the works aside from a potential two-hour special.

If TNA can maintain its ratings the next few weeks without the UFC lead-in, that would be a major feather in their cap because it would show that they could run on a night without UFC. If TNA goes two hours, it would have to be on a new night because Spike can't break up the synergy between Ultimate Fighter and Unleashed.

At this point, there are no plans in place, but it is something being talked about. Though, if it does happen, it would occur a few months from now at the earliest.

Former WWE Heavyweight Champ might go to TNA

Regarding the possibility of bringing in Bill Goldberg to TNA to work a program with Samoa Joe, as has been talked about, if it can happen, it's still at least several months from happening. Goldberg is set to star in the remake of the 1980s movie "Half Past Dead," which is shooting this month in Los Angeles, California.

Bret Hart was a guest on a special edition of Monday Night Mayhem. Bret discussed his recent dealings with WWE as well as some of the current projects he is working on. Here are some of the highlights from this interview:

*Bret Hart will be at the Capital City Fanfest (Maryland) in August.
Bret said he will feel like one of the fans when he gets to see legends like Billy Graham.

*Bret is still friends with Jimmy Hart and Jim Neidhart and doesn't remember any time where he had any problem with either of them through all the years they toured together.

*Bret is asked about the current status of tag team wrestling. Bret thinks there have not been many spectacular teams the last few years. Bret thinks tag team wrestling is an art form with its own psychology from standard one-on-one matches.

*Bret thinks the talent in the business today is very strong but the creativity elements outside of the ring is lacking.

*Bret puts over Brock Lesnar and says he misses watching him on TV.

*Bret says he is glad Ric Flair still can make a living in the business but he wishes that when Flair and Hogan get TV time that it could be used more creatively instead of seeing them do the same things over and over.

*Bret says Harry Smith (son of the late British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith) has all of the potential in the world and deserves to get a lot of success in the business.

*Bret says he was approached about being more involved in WrestleMania 22 but it was not in any angle with Shawn Michaels as rumored. Bret says he can't wrestle anymore and he is not interested in being brought in a commissioner role.

*Bret wishes he was still capable of getting back in the ring to wrestle so that the Survivor Series '97 angle could be played off as a huge elaborate work that was years in the making.

*Bret was asked about Vince McMahon now owning most of the classic footage from many of the past wrestling organizations. Bret says his dealings with WWE on the last WWE DVD went very well. Bret says he didn't like the Warrior DVD and he felt bad for how it ruined a lot of fans perception of the Warrior.

*Bret thinks wrestling is still waiting for its next phenomenon like Hogan was in the 80's.

*Bret will be playing the role of the Genie in an Aladdin play in Canada this fall.

*Bret has a book in development that will be released in 2007.
