Former WWE Writer Discusses Sting/WWE Possibility
by Chris Cash
Feb 03, 2011

Former WWE writer, David Lagana, has posted another good article on his blog site, IWantWrestling.com. Lagana looks at the recent 2-21-11 promo and the possibilities of it being for the return of the Undertaker or Sting. The following is a passage from Lagana's article where he recalls when Sting almost made his WWE debut nearly a decade ago:

"Sting at Wrestlemania almost happened nine years ago. Wrestlemania 18 will always be remembered for the memorable Hogan vs. Rock battle in Toronto. That event also featured Triple H winning the undisputed World Title from Chris Jericho and Steve Austin facing NWO Scott Hall (w/Kevin Nash). Sting was approached that year to make his WWE debut and wrestle on the big event. Once he was introduced to the brand, it was pitched that at Wrestlemania 18 Sting would face Kurt Angle. If you remember, Kurt was eventually thrown into a match with Kane with little setup. The deal apparently fell apart as Sting wasn’t willing to work the full WWE schedule. Now nine years later, we might finally get to see Sting in WWE."

OH NO!!!!!!!! booker t the talented one and ????? the Other guy?
booker will go in HOF by himself because he took off after the tag team break up.

and it's stevie ray right? i really have no idea because the guy stunk, booker carried that team!

Yes, Booker was the star of the team. But he became a star because of Harlem Heat. He never did anything as a single until after Harlem Heat was over to point that he could branch out. Stevie Ray was the perfect counter point to let him shine through.

Well, after watching the second 2-21-11 promo, I'm now convinced it's Taker. It's the not the first time they've used that Johnny Cash song for him.

Sting 2/21/11

Man! Can we remember the last time there was something in wrestling that stirred up this much speculation? I can't. Then again, my memory ain't exactly a steel trap...or however the saying goes.

Consider this. The song that plays in the 2-21-11 promo is “Ain’t No Grave” by Johnny Cash. WWE used the same song last year in a video to promote Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker.

Then again, this promo seems a little too obvious to be Taker. But then again, the idea of it being Sting is considered 'too good to be true', isn't it? But then yet again, as they say "Anything can happen". Never say never and all that rot.

I really doubt it's for Awesome Kong. Not only because the promo doesn't seem to fit with her, but because...well, when was the last time you saw a Diva get that kind of promotion? Divas are 2nd class citizens in the WWE so I would forget about that. She is signed, but that wouldn't be for her.

A few days ago, someone said they saw that Sting was still shown on the roster on the TNA site. That doesn't make much sense, since it was already reported that he's no longer signed with them, and that he is a free agent. The man considered as "the greatest wrestler to never have worked with WWE'...might lose that moniker...or...?

It's going to be the Taker, there was a leaked poster for a live event in the week after 2-21-11 stating the return of the Undertaker. Cleverly done by WWE to make people think it's Sting, but hey, with Mania round the corner and Taker's streak, it's bound to be him IMO.

^ The thing is, there have been so many makeshift posters and pretend teasers for quite a while, so I couldn't buy into anything right now.
I'm not arguing, but I'm thinking out loud here...
If that's so, then that is a pretty weak promo for his return, in my opinion. I mean, of course Taker will be at Wrestlemania, since he always is...and always wins there.
I was also kicking around the idea that it could end up being both of them, leading to the Mania showdown (yes, yes, just another wrestling fan's pipedream...but we never thought we'd see Rock vs Hogan either - which also happened at Mania). Taker has beaten everyone in the company, hasn't he? At least all of those who matter to him. How intense it would be, if Sting did enter, and is confronted by Taker, or vice versa, wanting that match they, and the people, have talked about for years.
Once again...it's just talk...and I'm adding to it.

I think the Last speculation that caused huge amounts of craziness and stirred so many people (other than the Marks-myself included) would be the COUNTDOWN that turned out to be Jericho's Debut on RAW!?

So there. This helps confirm what james85 said. Still, we can never say never in wrestling...we can just say 'unlikely'.
:why: considering i havent watched wrestling in about a yr and watched long enough to see this "SPECULATIVE" promo last week...finding out it's NOT sting really gives me ZERO incentive to comeback to watching.
if it was Sting i may have come back full time like i used to

I wish it was Sting though, would help break up the monotonous TV WWE puts out each week. Perhaps I only feel this way having loved wrestling since the late 80's through to 2000 or so.

Bringing in someone like Sting would make me watch more regularly, a feud between Taker and Sting would be off the chain! Makes me think, why the hell WWE haven't been more proactive in trying to sign Sting, even if he only works TV dates for a year and PPV's!!

WWE announced today that Wrestlemania 28 will take place in Miami at Sun Life Stadium.

Seriously? What the fuck. Where have they been in the last few years? Florida twice, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia. How about fucking bringing WrestleMania somewhere like New York or Seattle or even Toronto?
