You mean this?

Excuse us Americans for demanding a little more grit and heart from our athletes than shown in this shameless display of utter ass-hatery embedded above.

No it was a different one but I saw that on sportscenter. Fucking sad.

Maybe they should practice their death throws more.

I'm a diehard hockey fan and at their most basic hockey and soccer are very similar. But in reality they are nothing alike. If a hockey player actually died on the ice he wouldn't make a production out of it like these sissies.

Good post.:hatsoff:

good post yes,
true, not the part of the attention span thing.
its true, movies for example.
new movies, loud noises, camera switching angles and frames every second.
you know, it is for people with short attention spans.
because if the movie sucks what else does it have to offer ?

I dont feel that applies to sports.
in sports you want action, you want drama, excitement, ect.
for many people futbol just doesn't have those elements.

Seriously any game that can end in a draw 0-0 we find highly anti-climatic. Even with all the strategies behind it and all that, blah blah blah. We don't care if a sport is low scoring or not, just as long as some one scored and won. To us a draw isn't a good game it's two losing teams walking off the field. What can I say? We need a climax.

Once again though, seriously what does it matter if we do or don't like soccer anyway?

Just because the game ends in a tie doesn't mean that it wasn't an exciting game. There's definitely a climax as when a player takes a brilliant shot on goal and the goalie makes a great save or when a player goes on a breakaway and he misses the goal by hitting the crossbars. It's those little moments in the game that make it exciting.

I admit I don't follow the game.
I know here in Colombia the playoff games are 2 games and they add up the total score of both games.
What always happens is that the team that won the first game then plays complete defense in the second game.
just passing the ball around, no incentive to score.
I don't know if its like this worldwide but it makes for some boring shit i tells ya.

I think calling it 'football' confuses and angers people...

Hang on. The game you refer to as Soccer was called football all over the rest of the world long before NFL came about. You kick the ball hence the name right! When ever I've watched an NFL game a guy comes out once in a blue moon and actually kicks the ball before scooting off the pitch again. So why do you guys call it football:dunno: The main guy in the team is the QB, when does he or anyone else other than the teams kicker ever kick the ball?

Maybe you don't like "Soccer" because...... er, well it's SHIT!

As for that rolling around on the floor when players get tapped by the odd foot. For fuck sake it's supposed to be a contact sport!

I used to play Rugby years back. Everyone used to burr up the metal studs on their boots on some concrete before going on. You would then stamp on players heads a bit if they were arseholes and the ref was not looking.

All good healthy fun!

Sure, but it's not worth $50, a half a tank of gas and an entire Saturday. :D

Re: Why isn't Soccer popular in America?

Because soccer is a low grade turd world sport for one, two, it wasn't developed here in the ''best land in the world'' ;p (if it was ever developed at all), three, it has international appeal which Americans up until recently reject, well real Americans anyway and four, Americans like their box scores. Really, how could you possibly ooh & ahh a 1 to 0 ball game?
. . . or worse, a snake eyes game - ø to ø score!

Yeah thats how its done in the US with MLS. In the playoffs, you win by aggregate. So whoever has the most goals in the two games played advances. In Europe, I dont believe they have playoffs at least I know they don't in the EPL, Serie A, and La Liga. So whichever team has the most points at the end of the season is the league champion.
