Who’s better? Coldplay or Radiohead

Haha, no comparison, Radiohead are one of the greatest bands of all time. Coldplay, well, they just know how to write chart-hits. But that doesn't make a good band. That makes you generic.

Neither Coldplay or Radiohead, should be classified as rock, they are pop bands.

I think it's a little basic to classify Radiohead as "pop". Granted, a lot of their material - especially Pablo Honey and before that - is pop, but I don't think you could claim something like Push/Pulk Revolving Doors is.

 RadioHead all the head

Neither - Can't think of a single track I've liked off either of them. For me that is some statement. Just never seem to have a made a thing I even remotely like. To much of a plastic pop feel to their music IMO. The one thing I really hate in music.

But I keep a open mind, you never know one day one them might do.

Fair enough you don't like them, but plastic pop? Coldplay yes, but Radiohead are in no way at all plastic or pop. And it isn't just my opinion that they aren't. It's fact.

And another one.

A very amusing statement. Please explain to me how Radiohead are pop.

Maybe a little music lesson is in order?

Radiohead's OK Computer is a work of art. The Bends is also fantastic as is Pablo Honey.

But they have gone a bit weird of late with too much experimentation.

Coldplay have made some good singles but the nasal voice gets irritating.

Listen to Keane, now there is a tallent.

only one thing can be said about coldplay - :pukey:

radiohead? im still sick of them after all this time not listening to them. damn people playing their music in front of me. :1orglaugh

i think these two bands should get together and call themselves "headplay." i know coldplay would like that. :D

Yeah. That shit is not pop. Some of the last Radiohead albums are about as far away from pop you will ever hear. :dunno:

I grew up in the same town as Radiohead and knew them as acquaintances so I am biased.

not saying anything here fox - but you're 26 and thom yorke is 38 & they've been on the go for 15 years ? ? ?

as for the music i gotta agree with most other posters that radiohead are the better, classier, more important band
(- incidently, coldplay seem to have made more money, i've read they're worth £20 / $40 million + each)

i like to see bands / musicians pushing boundaries - and radiohead do that

He always used to go to the Phoenix on Walton Street which is where the arty films were. They used to let us as 13 year olds in even though the movies were usually 18s and 15s. Anyway, he was in there a couple of weekends a month. We used to freak him out. When The Bends came out we treated him like a rock star and it made him feel very awkward.

I don't care what you think. I had a crazy life. No-one believes me. You think that'll stop me telling people about it. Nah.

Fox

cool - i can dig that, it just pricked my interest & i wanted a bit of clarification :)

If you don't consider Radiohead to be pop, I would like to know what you classify them as. I hope it isn't rock.

If I was Dave, I would classify them as Ok Computer Rock.

I guess some of Radioheads music can be clasified as rock and other can be classified as pop. I would classify Creep as rock, and then I would classify songs such as, High And Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Karma Police and I Might Be Wrong as Pop.

You don't label a band a certain genre just because some of their songs are of that genre, you muppet  . You have to look at the whole collection of music, and the attitude the band has.

Well just go fuckin listen to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief and Kid A and then tell me that's pop. It's not. It's the exact opposite as pop.

BTW, Fox, Thom has children too. I read it in Q, I believe, or Spin, and he had a child he alluded to in the interview.

Have you ever driven home late at night (3am) after giving a woman pleasure, listening to Paranoid Android? It's something that should be experienced.
