Where did my rep go (and everyone elses BTW)

So, rep will just be in the games section, or did I read this wrong??

BNF is a SuperMod and no matter how many times he is repped he will never go above that ten. Like he also can't drop to 0. But he can rep a member as much as he likes without it blocking him. The same member 10 times in 10 minutes if he wants too

Damn lucky for BNF, I can't count the number of times I wanted to rep somebody but had to spread the rep first to so many other members that i ended up forgetting that I wanted to rep this person in the first place

good idea, back to the old days when rep system was new and the numbers were far far far smaller and not stupid. I think it just got way out of control and people got to much into their "rep points" that it lost its point......

I have to say I'm disappointed that the rep system has been screwed up. I guess I don't frequent the sections where all this random repping was going on: I just focus on pictures of naked chicks. I didn't rep somebody unless they posted something I really felt was a worthwhile contribution, and I guess I kind of figured when I got rep it was for the same reason. Silly as it may be, I'll admit that the rep number to me was kind of a nice way of feeling that I was making some kind of contribution to the forum. Even if others for whatever reason were getting tons of random rep, I kind of felt like I had earned mine. Now that's gone...sort of feels like a bit of a waste. Just that little bit less fun, I guess. My vote would be to restore it back to the way it was, and let the whiners who don't like it just opt out of it.

All I know is that I was proud of my relatively low rep score. I've never started a new topic nor posted a picture but only though responses did I get my rep. But it was sad that I would have a list of like 30-40 reps that did way less than 2-3 of the million rep point people. It was definitely in need of an overhaul or a reset.

Silly system. I really think it's a waste of time. Someone agrees with your comment and wants to respond, then why not do so in the actual thread? As for people handing out neg reps, it's just childish. The whole thing is very odd and useless really.

As you might know I'm not a real supporter of the rep system. But your idea of leaving a reply in the thread would promote what is known here as spamming. That's going round thread and just post little comments like hot, nice, great post, just a smilely, etc. You'll end up posting a lot of these in one visit and have a post count within a few months of about 3000. That would mean everyone would have a t-shirt in under six months (yes you do get them).

The lack of this spamming is something that makes this board so great. You're not having to go through 50 - 75 posts of 'hot' to find the next link to a set of pictures or video clips. Every post has something of value to read or see :thumbsup:
