When members get banned, do you . . .

I wonder, do banned members know when they get banned? Or do they post away thinking they are still in..........kinda like dead people in the movie the Sixth Sense?

If you are banned when you visit the the site you will get a message of why you are banned and for how long. And you are blocked from logging in and posting. At least thats how it worked the one time I was.:)

When members get banned, do you . . .Not talk about it on the board!

As said a million times before. They broke a rule got banned. Nothing else to say!

I wonder why he got his ban!! :D:D
He always thought he was the mod that never was! :)

Play as nifty neato mini detective and read the surrounding posts to figure out why ? :D

I bet you don't :1orglaugh

Mainly, I like to see why as a barometer . . . weather vane . . . richter scale, if you will.

There's some good lessons to be learned
sometimes ;)

I do actually......always curious to see what they finally said that pushed them over the edge.....sometimes I have been surprised at the members who eventually get banned, and other times, it's only a matter of time before it happens....

I look. It’s kind of like one of the shows on the National Geographic Channel or Animal Planet. When a predator catches a gazelle, the other gazelles stay far enough away to not get caught themselves, but they can’t help but look over at their buddy. As if to say, “Sorry, pal……. Feel terrible, but I’m glad it’s not me.”

If the member has a lot of posts, I usually hit the "last posts" button to find out what suddenly made them turn. What puzzles me more is why so many people suddenly close their accounts, it's been happening a lot lately.

However, I do know of one member who was banned not for breaking a rule, but seemingly just for asking why the rule was there. That one surprised me. Then again, it was a CamWithHer thread. :1orglaugh  :wave2:

Sometimes I do. I'm a mod elsewhere, and I will say this, while it isn't easy to get banned on the board I'm at, sometimes you just love dropping the ban hammer. Sometimes there are just certain things, that certain people do over and over again, and you no matter how hard you try to make them learn, they won't. The ones that keep trying, by creating multiple accounts, those can be fun.

Tell us about your ban policy on that other board, if you don't mind, revidffum.
Is it a policy where, once you're banned, you're out for good and you ain't coming back, for infractions, short of a member telling you, where to go, for example.
• Or, are banned members able to redeem themselves after a week, or whatever time period.
I guess all I'm asking is - Do you employ degrees of being banned ? Just a curio, as I've never been and would like to know.

Not like I'm gonna come back a push the envelope or anything. :nono: :pimpdaddy:

It depends on who got banned. Sometimes I snoop, other times I don't. I do wonder about the closed account trend...

Really, the only rules are, don't do stuff that drives the chicks away, because it's nice having them around, and your standard no children stuff rules. You have to work hard to get banned, you really do, and it depends, like here, some people get warned, some don't, depends on their degree of dickieness. Some get banned for ever, others for a short time to teach them a lesson. We had one guy that wanted to be able to say he was banned for the shortest length of time ever, so we banned him, kicked him off and reinstated him immediately, then changed his title to reflect it as such.

I just noticed Middlefingerluv got banned tonight. Anyone know why? His posts were rambling and incoherent, but I don't recall ever seeing him really being a dick or anything.

Kil4Thril

Closed Account
The only thing I wonder is why some bannings leave the names and posts intact, while others are completely removed as though they never existed. Others yet have their names simply changed to Member978621534987 and their posts live on?? I had actually intended to PM Petra on that just out of sheer curiosity, but never got around to doing it.

I don't mind the general conversation of this topic, but don't ask about specific members getting banned. If you're that curious, you can try PMing a mod but it's not something we publically discuss.

As to Kil4Thril's question, it really depends on the situation. If you see members with "closed account" and then their username as Memberxxx, they requested to have their accounts closed and no longer wished to have their username on the board for whatever reason...usually because we don't normally delete entire accounts or posts.

i have found since i joined up is that yes flamers, spammers, etc get banned and good riddance but Freeones also got rid of great 'FO Talk' Section contributers. I wont name names because its against the rules (see above post) but this has resulted in a very boring talk section, its a massive shame because it was always fun to read and have your say in a lively debate even if sometimes it got out of hand, i would rather of had that than the tight hand that grips the forums now.
The older members if there are any left will know what i'm on about...for me they were great FO days.

Even if people are banned, many simply return with a new handle/user-name:angels:...and what of those people who ask for their account to be closed (bizarre:confused:

I imagine sometimes people don't get banned permanently, they serve their punishment, and get to return, where I mod, a lot of times someone will get a week or two, just depends, if they try to start another account, then they get more. This board has a MUCH higher volume then the board I work at, and it also has a much different feel. We don't discuss things either, in fact we have a section that no one but the mods can see, just to work things out, and sort out whats going on, but it's really not hard to tell when, or why someone goes down. Different boards promote different attitudes, and discourage, or encourage certain behaviors. They are what they are, but it can't be helped, it's human nature to be nosy, and ask questions. For instance, there is someone VERY noticeably missing from around here, including any trace of there existence. I would make a guess, as to why, but it would just piss the mods off, and I know how irritating it is when you try to explain something to someone, and they just won't get it, they can, but they won't. It can make you yell at your computer sometimes!
