never even heard of that movie!!!
Wha!?!
never even heard of that movie!!!
The Longest Day
Saving private Ryan almost gave me post traumatic stress when I saw it in a theater. My girlfriend at the time had trouble getting me out of my seat because I was almost catatonic. I was never in a situation where there was something like a 40% attrition rate but the unfiltered lens and hand held camera perspective of the D-Day invasion was cinematically as realistic as anything I've ever seen.
Missing from the list:
Uncommon Valor
The Boys in Company C
The Siege of Firebase Gloria
Ivanhoe
Tropic Thunder
The Longest Day
Midway
Tora! Tora! Tora!
Hell in the Pacific
To Hell and Back
The Red Badge of Courage
The Alamo (John Wayne version)
Gods and Generals
Glory
The Dirty Dozen
Where is The Sands of Iwo Jima?
... and what about Glory:thumbsup:

Tropic Thunder
Why hasn't anyone yet mentioned Pearl Harbor, with Ben Affleck? *snaps a salute*
Yeah, I'm just kidding...
Absolutely. Completely underrated and under appreciated...
For all you SPR fans, do you think it would be half as good/popular without the opening sequence? Don't get me wrong, I love the movie. The remainder of the movie is just a little too Speilberg-y to be considered "the best" over Patton, Platoon, etc. And Matt Damon turns in one of the worst performances of his career...
Righteous...
The best by far recently, I agree.
I vote for Apocalypse Now Now Redux though.. The visuals, acting and overall cinematic mood is unbeatable...
The Longest Day
Not seen that one but Fuller was a great director.Great pic. Voted for Platoon. Most moives in the poll don't go far back enough for me. The Steel Helmet, directed by Samuel Fuller is outstanding.
