Who cares what other people spend their money on? Its THEIR money. If they want to make someones day, then by all means let them. Its no different than someone leaving a large tip at a restaurant, or giving your postman a gift for the holidays. Sometimes, just sometimes, porn viewers see us as people too, people who work hard to bring pleasure to others...and they appreciate that. Who cares if some girls can buy their own things, thats not the point. My brother could have certainly purchased the remote controlled helicopter I got him, but I WANTED to get him it to make him smile. Giving gifts isn't even about whats being given, its about making someone happy. And I don't see how ANYONE can seriously have the gall to bitch about people bringing happiness to others. Get over yourself.

Maybe to you but not to some. I had a fan buy me well over a thousand dollars worth of stuff off of my wish list. Plus, some of us make friends with special fans so to say that they don't know us at all isn't always true. I have fans whom I've grown close with and I send them gifts and cards for the holidays as well.

Who really cares what someone puts on their wish list or not? Is it really a big deal?

The bottom line is a lot of times stuff like that helps with the job. Better content, self shot content, social networking, access to apps like kik to message fans, etc.
Hell, my tv came from a fan who makes PAYMENTS on it because he's not rich.
Did I ask for it? No, he went out of his way to convince me to accept the gift.
Just like my fans have bought me a million PS3 remotes when they break so I could keep gaming with them.

Why nottttt. If it makes everyone involved happy, I see no draw back.

Plus most of us girls give custom content and tons of goodies to people who spoil us.
For the people who say, "work harder and buy it yourself!" I do work hard, that's why my fans want to spoil me!
I never take it for granted. I've freaking cried tears of joy over gifts and tips before. Just like they make me insanely proud every holiday season when we do toy drives & charity fundraisers.
It makes them feel good.

I've gotten HUGE gifts from some of them, things that have changed my life even. Some ask for things in return which I gladly give and some of them don't ask for anything at all. No one has the right to call them pathetic and if anyone did and I was around.....they'd better watch out......

There are TONS of cam clients who have a huge disposable income and spending it on pretty girls makes them happy. And you're also assuming that they're just buying gifts for a girl they've seen on cam once. I have fans that have been following me for almost a DECADE. They're not fans, they're FRIENDS. And I've met a lot of these guys IRL, I've even had guys fly from Australia just to see me. Just because its not how YOU would spend a few grand, doesn't mean that someone else who has some money to blow can't receive enjoyment in making other people happy. "Its better to give than receive"

And for the record, yes a $2000 camera is a huge gift, no I don't expect anyone to actually buy it for me, but I wouldn't have put it on my wishlist if a)I didn't need/want it and b)I didn't think it would get bought for me. Not bragging here, but I've had gifts bought for me that cost twice that much, and it was done by gents who wanted to blow my mind and give me an item that I normally couldn't afford. Some guys just DO have the extra money in their budget for spoiling those they appreciate. Stop focusing on how others spend their money and focus more on how YOU make and spend money. I think customers can be friends. I think that there can be both customers AND friends who support my job. I have gents who's contributions are for cam time, videos, etc. I have others who contribute and want nothing more than a smile. There are some gents that I talk to offsite, and genuinely like. The ones who treat me like a person and not the fap material. What defines a customer and a friend is how they look at you, how they see you, how they treat you.

Think of it like this - you can work with people at your job...what makes a co worker advance into a friend? Usually common ground, talking outside of the workplace, etc. You can have co workers, you can have friends, you can have co workers who are friends. Same goes for cam customers.

I routinely give my friends gifts in the form of paintings that I could sell for several hundred dollars because I think that it would make them happy and they deserve it. Further, if I'm not mistaken, I recall reading an earlier post that said a significant proportion of the gift givers do it anonymously, which negates most of your argument.

I fail to see how the adult industry is exempt from the commonplace occurrences of "customers" becoming friends as in other industries such as hospitality and restaurants, if this is in fact your implication.
