Veterans Day/Remembrance Day/Armistice Day: Honoring the "Other Side"

The U.S. and its allies went to war and continue to fight around the globe to this day, because of that horrific incident.
I think few will question US rationale for taking the war to Afghanistan. But the way the aftermath was handled...
It's almost 20 years and the area still isn't stable. And if you saw the recent report on US military spending in Afghanistan they were practically throwing money away on useless projects. Buying forest cammo uniforms for the afghan army (in a country with <2% Forrest), growing crops the locals don't use (soy), building that literally disintegrate within months of being built, etc...

It's a far cry from the reconstruction of WWII, which admittedly went pretty well.
