USC vs. Texas: How badly will the Trojans beat the Longhorns?

:thefinger :thefinger :thefinger To all of you USC band wagon jumpers. I'm so happy to see the better team win this game. Yes, USC was/is an incredible team, but this year Texas has proved to be the best team

 I'd hate to see what you had to say if USC had won:D

I would have congratulated them. I"m just getting back at all the over-confident USC pricks here who gave the Longhorns no respect at all. Big mistake. Deal with it.

Besides....USC didn't win so your question is moot.

Change Topic: How good was that game... Vince Young is unreal. 3 td's unreal

In all honesty....it was an awesome game. Gettting away from all the smack, USC is a terrific team and they deserve all the props in the world. They gave the 'horns all they could handle. The game could have easily gone their way with a break or two.

Key point in the game obviously was Carroll's decision to go for 4-and-1 with about 2 minutes left. They didn't make it....Vince took over and that was all she wrote.

Vince Young is the greatest player in college football and I hope that, now, after all the hype for Bush and Leinart, he gets his due (taking nothing away from them...they are incredible).

Great game and one I'll never forget as a Texas fan!!!

Sweet...

While I'm no big Texas fan...they beat my beloved Buckeyes after all...I'm glad to see them win!

They got no/little respect going into this game and I'm sure like everyone else they got sick to death of all the USC hype. It was a pleasure seeing them 'upset' those pretty boys.

I can't stand USC, UCLA...any of the California teams really. Same goes for any of the Florida teams. So...anytime any of them lose...that's FINE WITH ME!!! :D

Congrats to AsianXXXChick and all the other Texas fans here!
:banger: And look! We even have a 'hook-em' smiley! :D

How many of you think that the main 3 stars in the game will be a success in the NFL? The way I see it....

Matt Leinart- Average
Bush - Good as he is now
Young- Very good

We definitely need to have a college football thread next fall... There wasn't one that I just never noticed was there?

I don't know, I see leinart as much better than average. He led USC to 3 straight national title games. He plays well under pressure, understands pro defenses well because of being coached by a former NFL defensive guru.

Plus he's what every pro team is looking for: He's tall at 6'3 and an accurate pocket passer and deep ball thrower. He's almost a spitting image of his predecessor, Carson Palmer.

Anyway, all 3 will probably be All-Pro eventually.

What a classless whining piece of shit Matt Leinart is.....

Quote on ABC...."I still think we're the better team".....

I don't think so Matty-boy....look at the fucking scorboard you whiny little California bean-sprout eating, brie-cheese chomping chardonnay guzzling loser!

Get over it....you're done!

HOOK 'EM!!!!!!!

All I got to say is:

'NUFF SAID! HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

USC fans ... your boys played a good game ... here's to you ... :glugglug:

Congrats Longhorns :)

Vince Young had a MONSTER game!
(a little concerned about his lowish release point keeping him from being a great passer as a pro, but damn he's an incredible athlete)

As a UCLA fan I'm never sorry to see USC (sometime referred to as the university of spoiled children...lol) get beat, though Jagger is right about them deserving props galore for the way their program has returned to elite status under Pete Carroll. What a run they've had, and will certainly continue to have considering the recruiting years they've had under Carroll.

Agree with mcrocket that their defense has been rather suspect all season, though in the Pac 10 NOBODY had a defense this year, which tended to give USC's the illusion of being adequate (especially considering the potency of their offense).

Speaking of UCLA, The Bruins whipped up on Texas pretty good in 97 and 98, but neither win led UCLA to the bowl championship game (both years they fell one win short).

More memorable was the 1970 UCLA/Texas game....I was a very young Bruin fan when Texas beat them on an absolutely heartbreaking last minute long bomb 20-17, then went on to win their last previous national title (split vote with Nebraska) before winning this year's outright.

35 years later, and this time it's the Trojan fans left feeling the blues from the last minute heroics of the Longhorns.

Congrats again on the return of a great football program to the very top :)

Well the saying is true in all of sports... great offences wins you games during the season, but great defenses wins you championships !
Congrats to Texas !

Now back to hockey ! :D

USC came out looking like they didn't have all there shit together. They were doing ok until bush lost the ball with that lateral. that was were the game went the longhorns way. i was hoping USC would win, but congrats to the longhorns.

I dont see where you come off saying that Matt Leinart will be average. No one can say he an average quarter back. 34 straight fuckign wins i dont think thats average. Vince Young is an amazing player, he showed his talent last night. There are always flops in the NFL i dont think Vince Young will be one but part of his game will be eliminated in the NFL. He will not be able to scramble nearly as much and will get wrecked by guys in the NFL. Matt Lienart i would is is an amazing quarter back and had a better arm then Vince and to be honest in the end it all depends on which team they each go to.

Go Bucks!! Sure put a good shine on OSU! They matched up as well as USC did! Imagine if Troy Smith played the whole game!

By the way congrats Texas! No bandwagoneer here, so previous post...

Vince Young - Very good, maybe in Steve McNair mold
Matt Lienhart - Good solid player, maybe, just maybe has the Tom Brady gifts
Reggie Bush- A possible great player, wonder how he will take the beating of the NFL
Lendale White - Very good, sure had a great showing in game, solid and tough runner

That game was pretty good. Texas tried to give the game away and so did USC. Some of the coaching decisions by USC were just idiotic along with the forward lateral by Bush. Young proved he will be a good QB in the NFL and Leinart proved he his a butt monkey.

I don't know how well Vince Young's skill set will translate to the NFL. You could compare him to similar players. He doesn’t run quite as well as Michael Vick, but I think he will probably end up throwing better despite is sometimes awkward motion. Which is good for him because the way Vick is really isn’t the optimum way to win in the NFL IMO. I heard somebody say he might be considered a low fat version of Dante Culpepper. That view has a lot of merit. Which actually means he could have a lot of upside. Maybe the best comparable is Randle Cunningham, which isn't bad either, but I think he might have a chance to be even better. I think it is important that he gets a coach that will build a system around his strengths instead of a coach that will shoehorn him into a predefined system. Still you never know how he will turn out.

A leaner Culpepper is good but i also jsut though of him as a taller and faster McNabb. No quarter back runs as well as vick does. Hes one of the fastest players in the NFL jsut somthign he does but i do believe he will be good
