Turkey to block 'insulting' Web sites

Even with the mass protests against the possible new PM, the whole situation makes more of a case against Turkey getting EU membership.

I don't know anyone who has been made more comfortable about Turkey by the rise of an Islamist, no matter what the outcome.

I bet they have the morals not to invade the world and police the world and try to rule the world.

Fox you do remember reading about the Ottoman Empire don't you? From about the middle of the 15th century thru the late 17th century? Invading southern Europe? Making it all the way to the outskirts of Vienna? You didn't want to include that part, huh? Might've shot down part of what you were babbling about.

well, to play the devils advocate, eastern europe isn't exactly "the world."

but you do have a point, turkey isn't exactly a hotbed of progressive social activism either.

I'm Turkish but not a muslim.
I think Youtube ban is too silly.
Most of Turkish people are contradictive, they love western lifestyle but cannot quit their fucking craptacular traditions. As Turkish, i do not think that Turkey has a place in EU in its current form. If everything had gone alright since 1923, Turkey would have been a part of EEC (EU) in like 60s or 70s. I hate western looking old lifestyle and thinking, e.g. people dressed like western men and act as fucking stupid tribal men.
Turkey has gone through some dark periods which slowly destroyed the community. Now, we have polarised parts in our community which is a shame and i thank Menderes (in 50s), Demirel (in 70s) and Erdogan (in 2000s) for this!
About the original topic, most Turkish people seem to hate everything about USA and they photoshoped US maps and show it as a Turkish property as a reaction. I totally dislike those manipulated maps whether they are made by Turkish or American people. I only dislike current US foreign policy but i do really like USA (people, cities, lifestyle...etc).

Like most typical YouTube users do, just flag the video and send it to YouTube admins or give damn official warning, if the government can't do anything. Banning YouTube at all is not a solution.

By the way, FreeOnes is free over here. :D Nobody can destroy my freedom of Freeones.

The party with the biggest vote was Erdogan and you have to accept it. What you and many other "secular" people have to understand is that you may not be muslim, but the majority of your country members other. You have set up a new religion called kemalinism.

People such as yourself's days are numbered.

I accepted Election 2007 results. I didn't go to Constitution Court to cancel election results, see?! Erdogan is playing with Islam to set up a politic view, this is what i object. Religion should be a part of your private lives, not the common social life and it is not a political toy. I said i am not a muslim but i do believe in God. "Kemalism" is not a religion, it's an ideology which i follow. God didn't disappear at hearts after Kemalism was formed.

Final note: Secularism is not for destroying people's religious beliefs, it's for cleaning religions' dogmas from social life and making your religion private just for you. If you like to be a show off with the religion, it's your problem.

If you have stuffs to be argued, private message me. We are getting off topic.

I'm not sure what to think of this being an American, other than sadness.

I can't even imagine if everything that had our honest opinions of Bush or others in our government were removed or banned in some way. With all its faults and I'm the first to admit we have many, but freedom of speech is the most valuable.

Any thoughts? On any country controlling the net.
