President George H. W. Bush, a US Navy pilot during WWII and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal, in his speech, referring to FDR's famed Infamy speech as happening on September 7th 1941 ... when everyone knew it was on December 7th, 1941.

... you can blame the speechwriter for that mistake, but President Bush should not have said it to begin with.

the atf was there to serve a warrant to search the house for illegal weapons.
according to the warrant it was for mechanisms that can make a weapon into an automatic one.
ok, not that big of a deal, especially considering no crimes other than possibly having these mechanisms were suspected
but they surround the place with a hundred automatic weapons aimed at it, machine gun mounted helicopters over head, snipers, and they call every news station in the area to come film it.

meester....a speeding ticket is not a big deal unless you run from the police then start shooting at them. Now you are armed and dangerous and you won't be dealt with on the basis of a simple speeding ticket anymore as the cops will protect their lives when it comes to it at the expense of yours.

engages you...if you don't comply YOU have escalated the circumstances. That LE showed up with various levels of force belies the intelligence they had on who they were dealing with, a combative, heavily armed group of dead enders. They were right.

Wouldn't you just love to see the C.I.A. and FBI show up at some flop house allegedly abetting OBL...you think they're going to send two guys in suit and ties and hope he complies???
