Tomb Raider game to trace origins of Lara Croft

Developer Crystal Dynamics is working on a new Tomb Raider meant to be an origin story for Lara Croft, the studio said today.

"Forget everything you knew about TOMB RAIDER," said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics. "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."

The game, they say, will feature the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which "charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive."

'After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive'

I hope CD will make it proper this time, sure Underworld was good, but there were tons of bugs, and unrealistic things that were in that, but I do love the Lara Croft franchise, ever since I first played the original, back in the Nineties.

Last one I played was Revelations. I own the first four for PS1.

what the fuck you lookin at?
I'm not big into tomb raider, but this sounds kinda interesting.

Despite what the article says. I wont EVER forget what came before in terms of Tomb Raider. The first five games wont ever be beaten, not ever. THEY captured the whole isolation and adventure elements perfectly. Anniversary was pretty damn good too, despite the bastard crappy QTE in it. That option, for any decent game, can ruin the armosphere a little. As it takes you out of the world you are immersed in and brings you to reality just so you can hit a few fucking buttons so to perform an action.. FUCK RIGHT OFF WITH THAT IDEA!. Underworld was another step in the right direction, just like Anniversary was. Now though the fuckers are going back to the drawing board, again. And it is because they are redesigning the series (for a third time) that this new TR game is make or break for me. If it fucks up like Resident Action 5 did then I am done with TR. And I have been a fan since 1996 when the first TR came out on Playstation.

PS
That picture of Lara in the first post. She has nice lips :blowjob:

I hope they bring the mansion back where you can walk through it like the earlier games. It would be great if it would implement evolving as you progress through the game such as trophies/achievements, hidden items, costumes, and hidden items. There could be so much they are able to do to bring that to reality.

Can't wait to see Square Enix fuck another franchise up.

You know, on Tomb Raider Chronicles I was a bit uneasy when playing a certain part of it. I honestly felt a little freaked out due to the atmosphere as I felt like it was trying to be horror and not your typical adventure atmosphere. But see in the end I just loved that section more than ever for giving me that type of atmosphere. I am speaking of The Black Isle when Lara was 16. She was avoiding the small midget thingy's that fired darts at her all the time and she met with some dark horseman character. The whole section was the darkest setting of ANY Tomb Raider to date. Chronicles the last truly great TR game. Sure Anniversary and Underworld, as I said, were good. But not great. In The Black Isle section of TR:C it felt like Resident Evil 2 meets Tomb Raider in terms of music and atmosphere.

I could save, on both editions.

I only ever had one single glitch on ANY TR game. This was on TR2 on the Floating Islands. At a certain point you have to climb a steep wall, inside, not outside. And if You save either at the bottom of the wall or at the top, not sure which as its been a while. The game is prone to crashing if you try and load that particular file. So it is best to save a little before it or just a little after you get up top. People moaned about Underworld having glitches I have never come across a single glitch in the game and I have finished the game three times now.

Tomb Raider.
First Level: 5 Minutes. 16 Seconds.
ALL secrets.
ALL Kills.
ALL Medi Kits.
ALL Ammo Pick Ups.
On a separate occasion I completed the whole of Tomb Raider using no medi packs or Uzi ammo.

Tomb Raider 2. (fastest time of completing it).
4 Hours. 51 Minutes. 16 Seconds.
ALL secrets.
ALL Kills.
ALL Medi Kits.
ALL Ammo Pick Ups.

The time it took me (in days) to complete the TR series on my first attempt on each game.

TR - two weeks.
TR 2 - 15 days.
TR 3 - 11 days.
TR 4 - 4 and a half weeks.
TR: C - 5 days.
TR: Legend - 6 hours 24 minutes.
TR: Anniversary - 14 hours.

Underworld never had a time at the end of the game. So I can only guess as it being sumfing like 10 or 12 hours.

I have not played the DLC packs for Underworld, there are two of them. I don't support DLC and to do so is to say it is ok to release an unfinished game and then sell us more of it once the game is out. It's a con. But in saying that I will accept DLC if it is brought out on disc. I would like both packs but only if they got brought out on disc. Same goes for the two mission packs for Saints Row 2. I wont download them. Disc is king!.

You just contradicted yourself. You won't buy DLC because you say it's an unfinished game, but you will buy it if comes on a disc later. Also, I understand the DLC issue and yes it's out of control, especially with the prices that they ask for and taking out features that used to be included. I only buy DLC for the games that I enjoy and if I deem the value is great for me. As far as games not being unfinished, if you absolutely NEED the DLC to complete the game, then and only then is it really unfinished and if you believe that a company is selling unfinished games, why would you support that company by buying their games, used or not?

The whole DLC should be on a disc argument never makes any sense because once you pop the disc in, you have to download it to your hard drive anyway. That's what happened when I bought the GOTY versions of Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, and Gears of War.:dunno: I like having hard copies but for a few map packs or missions, I'd rather just download it. If I need room I can always delete them and re-download them.
