Tip

Unless the waitress is truly terrible and going out of her way to be miserable, she'll get a tip from me. If you have a complaint about the food, let her know. People think they're making a statement or proving a point to the restaurant by not tipping their waitress, when really you're just fucking the waitress.

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out.

The minimal wage for servers in the U.S. is 2.13. So, of course I am going to tip.

Tipping is not part of Finnish culture.

So you're waiter?

In my view you do not deserve a fucking penny.

Exactly.

^

A good principle.

If you get bad service do not pay.

-But not everyone has the extra money and tourist do not know American practices.

I would give maximum dollar tip and only then if the waiter asks >;D

-How hard work it is?

If you're traveling to a different country, you better learn what the tipping culture is before you go. Not doing so is lazy and rude. And a waiter isn't going to ask for a tip, that isn't how it works.

I don't ride in taxis, but I do tip waitstaff. You should tip at least two bucks on a ticket less than $10. Anything over $20 should get at least a five dollar tip. Don't be a cheap bastard, assari.

Yes :(

Some are just so nice to you, it would be a shame not to tip them at all...

This is a real culture issue.

In some countries such as America is in a way forced to pay extra, but in the other countries this habbit is unknown.

Tourist may not know this and therefore would be a good thing if the information would be available.

"If you do not tip you are a pig"-sings or something like that.

My aunt lives in America so I have heard that this tip-thing is a very important thing out there.

But in the Nordic countries it is not as big deal.

I live in Hollywood so I always tip my taxi drivers.
Most of the time they are only taking me a few miles, so if I made some driver wait for me outside a place, to only drive me a short distance, I tip.
Otherwise it feels like I wasted his time for $6.

I only call one for groceries, or if I'm going out and my heels are insane. hah
But they have flat rates for the airports & everything like that.

And waitresses don't make shit without tips in the States. So yes, I always tip. Even if they sucked, I tip.
I tend to eat at restaurants where I can be served by the bartender. They tend to give the best service and are the nicest around here. If I really like the food I'll also tip the cook.

Always. Even if the service sucks, I just tip a lot less. A lot of people can say a lot of things about my character, or what kind of a human being I might be, but NO ONE can say I'm not a good tipper. Especially the pizza delivery guy, or the girl slinging my beers.

It is great that you know how to settle other people's position.

For me it would be unthinkable to give pizza delivery guy extra money.

The reason is that they did not expect to receive a tip.

The tip is almost unknown thing here.

What's the minimum wage in Finland?

Finland does not have a minimum wage law so the pay can be very small, but I never have seen poor people here.

As Stan pointed out above, U.S. minimum wage for servers is $2.13/hour, and that's the standard across the industry. You see a lot of poor people working as servers here in the states.

That scene cut off the part where the old man crawled Pink's ass for not tipping.

When I used to wait tables and bartend in CA, they paid minimum wage which was $7.50. I was so excited bc in Michigan, it was $2.85. It's a tough job!

I understand why the tip is so important in America.

Waitress work is hard, poorly paid and their wages barely rising.

But the situation is not the same in every country and therefore the tip does not drop here.

You must like your food with a side of spit.

20% at sit-down restaurants

10% on cab rides, minimum $3USD

$1/night for maid at hotels

$1/bag for porters/bellboys

$2-3 for a haircut

If you're not sure if you should tip, you probably should.
