Franchises are easy targets. I would never work for a franchise.

Rather, anything with a corporate behind it is an easy target. Family/privately owned restaurants are not as easy for customers to treat employees like dirt, because who else are they going to cry to? No one. Once they get kicked out or yelled at by the manager there, there is no higher-up for them to complain to. That's my kinda store!

If the owner doesn't give the managers full power to run the restaurant then fuck them. One of the funniest things I saw was a drunk customer told that if they got thrown the fuck out they would stay thrown the fuck out. People will push the limits as far as you let them, and if you're regularly abused as a server it's because of bad management.

Happened to me once in a bar...I was being a drunk fuck, shots of Wild Turkey and Moose Heads from 11:00am, until it happened, at about 9:00pm, totally an obnoxious asshole, and told to leave, but kept sneaking back in. Finally, he put the stamp on my fore head, to accentuate his FUCK YOU!!! I later, about 10 minutes later, got arrested for drunk and disorderly, public intox, and resisting arrest. Collage town, I got lucky. Cost me $60. and 6 hours in the tank.

But your point is 100% on. If the bosses won't stand behind the help, WHEN it counts, they should be beaten...the customer IS NOT always right, and the ones that think they are, are usually the biggest assholes there are. I've seen shitty attitudes from servers, and bar servers, that deserved a fuck you, but not as much as an asshole customer, abusing the help.

That's one of the reasons I tip good. I know it sucks to deal with assholes, and if I can make the person dealing with my silly square ass feel better... whats a few bucks ?!?!

She wasn't the type of mentally ill you're talking about. There was no way in hell I was going to ever give her sympathy. Uh-uh, no way, not happening.

boss always made it a point at my reviews to tell me that the one thing I needed to work on was calming down and not getting so upset and offended by customers. She thought all the times I got pissed about customers was in my head, that I was over exaggerating. Wrong. Proof from the cops themselves.

-Well, that woman was a real nightmare.

-The bosses are aware that there is a difficult customers, but they do not want to upset them.

Un satisfied customer = bad publicity

Ok, but do not blame yourself forever because things like that happen.

I blame myself for nothing, You Miss this, and almost every post in this thread dude. I know the girl bringing my food, or serving my drinks is USUALLY trying hard to do a good job...why not reward that. Where I work they do. If you're on time, and don't miss any work in a month, you get a $25 gift card to a food store, or a restaurant. Every once in a while, I'll get an extra check for a couple hundred bucks. It's not unreasonable to reward good behavior, or service. No one said waiters, or delivery drivers spit in food if you don't tip them, but You Missed that point too...point was, they won't if you treat them, like you want to be treated, I agree, sometimes it gets a little crazy with all of the people that you have to tip, but you can't expect something for nothing. If they paid waitresses at the level they paid most everyone else, the $20 dollar steak at that local franchise restaurant, would be $40, so if you do the math, it works out about the same.

If you're asking all of these questions because you plan on visiting this country, you better figure out where you're going, and talk to people from those areas. What I pay for goods and services in Cleveland Ohio, is WAY different then, a person from New York City, or Los Angelas California pays.

I'm out on a date at a nice restaurant. The woman wants to have a smoke. We order our desert and step outside. She can't find her cigs so we walk down the plaza to pick up a pack. I'm waiting outside the shop and I see the waitress dashing towards me. She thought we were going to take off on the bill. The thought never crossed my mind. The girl steps out of the shop in the middle of this scene. Seems that the camera followed us around the corner and the manager got nervous. I was not mad because it seemed pretty logical considering the circumstances. I'm a card holder of this place that gives me discounts and preferred reservation at his 6 restaurants so I was listed when we sat down. It was a funny story except for the woman I was with on the date. Last time I ever saw her. Doesn't keep me out of the place though.

I was at the bar today and I left twenty cents tip for the waiter.

My order; A cup of coffee that cost one euro.

She probably thinks that the money has been forgotten on the table because the tip is not part of our culture. :1orglaugh
