The worst heavy metal songs

Picture says a thousand words here.

I had EMG 81's in my Les Paul because I was going through a Zakk phase but switched them out for the DiMarzios. Plus the battery was a pain in the ass.

The battery is a bitch, but my pickups are passive. However, the Jackson has a push/pull decibel booster that makes them active.

I always had a bad habit of leaving the guitar jack in it and running the battery down. Then it would go out as I was playing and the pickups would have a weird tweety tone them. Got tired of changing the battery. Zakk has people to do shit like that for him.

Heavy metal is kind of interesting music, but these two things bother me.

1. It is Satan's music.

2. Most heavy metal bands are gay.

The first thing bothers me because I'm Christian and the other because I'm not homo.

I'm not homofobic, but their style is foreign to me.

1. I wouldn't say it's Satan's music. Satan is commonly associated with metal cause metal bands have always been fascinated with subjects of a dark nature and well Satan is everyone's favorite boogey man. Look at Sabbath. They were warning people about Satan, not praising him. They wore crosses.

2. MOST? I really only know of one off the top of my head and that's Rob Halford of Judas Priest. But why should that keep you from enjoying the music? You can still relate to the lyrics. People make some funny jokes about there lyrics but it's not like they're all about the gay lifestyle.

There is more Satanism in rap music than any other genre. At least a fascination with it and the whole Illuminati mystique. I remember preachers going off on Iron Maiden and The Number Of the Beast. Basically they were telling their interpretation of the book of Revelations in a 4 minute song.

That's funny. I like the attitude of both these guys. Lemmy just doesn't get it. I love that about Lemmy though. He keeps it real. What you see is what you get with Lemmy. He banged porn stars and strippers too. I admire him for that. I feel if he can do it I can. I mean loot at him. He's not exactly metrosexual. I think what makes him attractive them is his attitude and well...Motorhead. I can relate to both of them. As for Chronos, he works out. I work out and I can tell ya from experience, it puts ya in a high-energy state. After a good workout, I feel the same way he looks in this photo. Great photo! Thanks for postin' it!

It's really gay that people get so upset about that stuff. I think the Illuminati's interesting. My one friend who is big fan of the rappers, Immortal Technique and I think they talk a lot about the Illuminati. I believe the metal band Agent Steel talks about em' too if I'm thinkin' of the right band. I read that the song Number of the Beast is based on a nightmare that Steve Harris had after watching horror movies.

And since other musicians here mentioned it, I would like to say I'm a shitty bass player who dreams of one day being able to play like Steve Harris. The guy's a genius.

It's great that there's so many metalheads here on the free ones message board. Two of the greatest things in life metal and porn! I'm aspiring to be like Lemmy and bang porn stars.

Satan can appear as philanthropist.

The performer can say that Satanism is not a good thing, but mention of the devil always increase the interest.

I do not mean that members of the heavy metal bands are gay, but their style is a quite pansy.

Leather pants, fetters, chains etc.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of gay people would think they look silly too. I like the whole leather and spikes thing even if Rob's head maybe was somewhere else. I think people look at them and think that because of like BDSM and male strippers wearing costumes. But not all strippers and practioners of BDSM are gay. I look at the image and think of like a tough, masculine, warrior kinda thing, which is the feeling the music gives me. And there again, it's just stereotypes. I'm sure there are tough gay people. GG Allin was bi. Aleister Crowley was bi. Both tough guys.

1. In the 50s, rock n roll was the devils music too. Anything controversial has been linked to Satan at some point. But hey even if they are correct, like Bill Hicks said, at least we know he rocks!

Overall, metal can be a hard genre to define. It has its links to Hard Rock and quite often, particularly by the record labels and media, a lot of hard rock bands get thrown into the Metal genre unnecessarily. Like supposedly even that bastard spawn Michael Bolton was meant to be in a metal band. Yeah right. Motorhead are considered metal by most, but I'm pretty sure I remember Lemmy talking in a doco or some other interview were he said he didn't consider Motorhead to be metal, more of a rock n roll band. So it's open for interpretation a bit.

Personally I think it takes a bit of an open mind and a bit of patience to get into metal. I hated it in my early teens, some of that was perceived perceptions thrown about by others and the media etc that I took on board. Plus the shit 'hair metal' bands of the time didn't help. But as I got into heavier rock bands like Soundgarden and Tool, from there over time I started to get into the likes of Pantera. There's not many genres I haven't checked out at some point, but some really do get my goat (satanic pun intended :p). I only draw a line at anything where there's gutteral/screaming vocals from start to finish, pretty much most Black/Death metal bands. I'm quite often disappointed, because the music can be really good but as soon as those vocals kick in, its like nails on a blackboard to me. Lamb of God is the perfect example. Metalcore I can't stand either, its like inserting screaming for the sake of it. Then there's old school constant high pitched operatic singing, such as bands like Watchtower. I can't stand that either. Some high pitched singing is fine, like Bruce Dickinson, Geoff Tate, Warrel Dane, etc. But if they sound like they are wearing womens underwear or had their balls cut off the whole time, I have to pass.

Now I'm thinking I'll have to watch Metal Evolution again, or just wait for more new episodes of Metalocalypse......

What's heavy metal? Is that the scrappy subgenre of metal where musicians who never learned to play music just spam their instruments crazily, while singer growls something random to mic that noone understands even a word? Does "Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music" count for metal music? Trying to listen that whole crap volume turned up without getting headache sounds like a special achievement...

Speed metal and goth music are horrible. that screaming shit is just painful noise. I spent many nights in college stoned and listening to Dio and Metallica and older metal from the 80s like Ratt and WASP but I just never could stomach Megadeth or any of that speed metal stuff.
