The U.S. Soccer team SHOCKS THE WORLD!

*Time for a "Day Before" bump*

It is the U.S. v Brazil. Can the U.S. shock the world twice in a row! Today's Wall St Journal had a decent article on National Soccer Powers and used info from some London research group to calculate that the U.S. has a 23% chance to beat Brazil tomorrow...

:thefinger: U.S. 2 Brazil 1 :thefinger:

So what? Next year in South Africa:

Brazil (or any other decent Team) 3 U.S.A. 0 :thefinger

Do we have any idea what kind of team are the Brazilians going to play?

Reserves or first team?

According to 90% of the Freeones Universe...it wouldn't matter, eh;)

I think they will come out with the big guns. It would seem a bit weird to play Kaka et all and then sit them for the Championship...:dunno:

C'mon U.....S.....A.....!!!

I was going to say you might have a better chance against the reserves :D. From what I've seen lately of the first team they dont look like a completely solid unit and can be beaten. Now, if the US is on the top of their game they could pull it off :dunno:.

C'mon U.....S.....A.....!!!

I usually support the underdog, so why not. :D

om3ga

It's good to be the king...
USA 2 - BRAZIL 3

Still - a gallant effort, Yanks....

Applause USA !!! Superb effort - 2-3 nothing to be ashamed of. :)

Quite some turn around. The US should have killed it off in the first half.

But still Brazil came back ... :hatsoff: to them.

I know some people may call this a choke- it may be equivalent to blowing a two-touchdown lead at halftime in a Super Bowl- but I won't.

sspoken like a true american :D

but nicely done U.S.! much more teams have looked worse against the brazilians :hatsoff:

it's soccer. nobody in the US would have given a crap if we'd won
Not only in the US...but noone gives a crap that Brasil has won, the Confed cup is as interesting as spring training or any other friendly. It's a good prerun for the host nation, but that's about it. Noone gives a crap about the Confed Cup, not even the South Africans, as not one single stadium has been sold out. Just let the real WC roll around and then we're talking.

Tomorrow, U21 Euro final between Germany and England. This should be a good one. SCHLAND!!!

I really doubt that (bold part). Dunga would've been fired if Brasil lost.

I am very proud of the U.S. Superb effort. The second US goal was the goal of the Cup--a very "Arsenal"-like counterattack thing of pure beauty. I'm happy there were no cheapass PKs in the match. I can't bitch and moan about the Refs. I think the main ref was on top and called a fair game. FINALLY Brasil started to ring up Yellow cards like every other team.

However, the difference between the U.S. and Brasil is that when Brasil makes switches they know they're bringing on guys who will impact the game. When we make substitutions--we're PRAYING they do something positive. Sadly, our Subs brought the quality of U.S. play down and Brasil just rolled on.

Very impressed with the U.S. team. I think our only weakness is Ricardo Clark. He was exposed today as a very medicore player at the Int'l level. He looked like a frightened cub out there. I was puzzled that Coach Bradley subbed out Benny Feilhalber too. I thought Feilhaber was exceptional for the game--in a defensive role, shutting down Kaka, which he did, for the most part.

We really need 2 more great players to compete with "the big boys." Maybe there's an English player or a Dutch player unable to break through their national sides that we can give a "quicky green card and jersey" too...:thefinger:dunno:

I really think Feilhaber and Dempsey would look might slick in an Arsenal shirt next year. Le Professeur should not toss $30mil at Benzema. That would be a waste and instead--get Dempsey and Feilhaber:glugglug:

I'm just glad that Brazil sent the US back to reality. We will never be competitive in these international tournaments. We just don't care enough about the sport.

Maybe when our best athleats start playing soccer I'll be interested, but thier not. I'm just glad it's over.
