Wasn't Arafat a terrorist?
Arafat was a terrorist, at first. Then he understood that terrorism would do palestinians no good so he choosed to be a stateman for a state that didn't even existed but that he wanted to built. He choosed to negociate deals rather than kill israeli people

From the looks of it he decided to go into white collar crime Madeline Albright said he never wanted peace because he would be irrelevant and unemployed if he got it but Trump’s alive and brokering peace agreements so he deserves a peace prize.

"The Palestinians will absolutely be a member. I don't say that with any bravado, I just tell you the Palestinians will be a member at the right time," Trump said.

If Trump can get an Israel-Palestine agreement, I'd say the Peace Prize would be a no-brainer. That would truly be the diplomatic feat of the post-war era.

Trump says a lot of things. Often changing hourly. Still if he succeeds he could walk over The Dead Sea to sign the Treaty. Jared is working on it. But the damn Palestinians keep wanting to have a say in the results. Who do they think they are?

I don't see it happening. With only 6 weeks until election day, there is too much ground to cover for an agreement. As you note, the Palestinians will not roll over. As an active adversary, the scenario is quite different than these other agreements.

Trump's middle east miracle wasn't enough this year. The Peace Prize went to:

World Food Programme (WFP) “for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict”

I guess creating peace among non-warring parties was not enough to win. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe he'll win it a couple decades after leaving office "for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development."

Who?

It is interesting to see that most of the Arab states seem to be deciding money is more important that principles they have held for years. Remember when the Arab league wouldn't even acknowledge Israel? Much less their right to exist. Maybe The Donald is rubbing off on them? Money before life, right?
Wistful for Arab hatred of Israel refusal to acknowledge promise to wipe off the map your good old days huh I like Israel myself but I know alot of people don't I like that thatis changing but alot of people don't like that either one man's religion fueled hatred another's good old days come see cum saw

Israel is of no personal importance to me Just the changing twisting times. I guess my take is that since The Donald we are all supposed to love Israel, but somehow hate the Jews here. So confusing on keeping instructions on hating straight.

Who told you to hate Jews? Why are you confused? You want to do as you are told then? Who told you to hate Jews and why would you try to?

I guess I have to be specific. Jews are not my enemy, I am speaking of the folks like those who marched singing Jews will not replaces in VA. and the other fine people on that side who have killed and assaulted Jews and others here. This as the American Government (Read Trump Admin.) is dead set on giving the Israeli state everything it wants in Israel. Like Jared's Middle East peace plan. You know, the one the Palestinians weren't asked about. That is what I mean.

Don't rise to 🐬 bait. Rational people got your point.

NYT: Trump is the greatest threat to democracy since the end of WWII.

After reading this I said out loud: "In 2008, I would not have thought W could have been the voice of reason."

The young must be taught carefully other wise they will turn out like me. And you see how that has gone.

Also as much as it hurts me to admit this, I miss W.

Presidents have purposely avoided, throughout the years since Harry S. Truman (when Israel came into existence in 1948), having the United States recognize (pick and choose) a capital for Israel. It has always been Tel Aviv.

And here comes "big balls" President Donald Trump in 2017 naming Jerusalem the capital of Israel. It was the worst thing he could have ever done because Jerusalem is not only the spiritual and cultural center for Jews but it is also is the same for Palestinians.

For Palestinians, Jerusalem is like the "Mediterranean" Mecca. A very spiritual place. Just like the rest of the Arab world have for Mecca and Medina; keeping the both of them in high regard. Same holds true in the Islamic world for the cities of Baghdad, Damascus, Tehran, and Kabul.

Now the Palestinians have to deal with the government of Israel encroaching on their homes and land. They've been doing that for decades. Taking the land and giving it to Jewish homesteaders so that these same Palestinians become homeless.

I sympathize with both Jews and Palestinians. There is only so much limited land available but what can you do? This same land, i.e., the Holly Land, has been fought over for centuries since the Crusades.
