I think if Arizona can score early, preferably first, and get a little lead they have a chance. If they get down any significant amount they are probably done. I have a hard time seeing them come back on Pittsburgh.
:wtf:
That Bills team actually should've won at least one of those Superbowls, being the first one,no thanks to Scott Norwood.
To say that the Bills were "sadsacky" is a bit off base.Even though they didn't win any,how many other teams have made it to four straight Superbowls?NONE.
They had a dominant defense a strong well balanced offense, and they pretty much stayed consistent for FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS!
Now I'm not a Bills fan by any stretch, but to say that this Cardinals team reminds you of them is absolutely ludicrous.
Have you ever heard the saying that the best offense is a good defense? Needless to say the Steelers have the best defense in the NFL. No team has had success against the run at all. We allowed, what...one 100 yard game all season? Big fucking whoop!!!! We have the 2 best defensive players in the game today in James Harrison and Troy Polamalu. The defense of the Steelers will win the game for them, there's no doubt there. And the only reason the Cards have good rushing numbers is they've played 3 playoff games. The Steelers have only played 2, simply because they're not some wildcard team this year with a 9-7 record. The Cards are lucky, very lucky to be in the Super Bowl.
I think the comparison is fair. The AFC was a joke conference when the Bills dominated. The Bills had a strong offense--great QB, great RB, great WR, and a medicore defense (except for Bruce Smith). This is basically the same thing as the Cardinals. The Conference strength has reversed. The NFC was the easy conference this year.
I think the Steel Curtain 2009 will "close the curtains" on the Cardinals...maybe in a big, blowout, too:thefinger![]()
I wouldn't say that it was a joke conference,it was just totally offense oriented, especially the passing game. Most of the AFC teams thought that they could win by just flat out outscoring their opponents. That's part of the reason why the AFC didn't win a Superbowl for something like 17 straight years.
Mediocre? The main reason why the Bills dominated is because they had a dominant defense.in '90,'92,and '93 their defense gave up under 300 point per season. While that's not '85 Bears or 2000 Ravens dominance,it was pretty damn good. And they only had Bruce Smith?I guess Cornelius Bennett wasn't much of a player with the Bills then, huh?
Look,I'm not even a Bills fan and have never been.As a matter of fact,I hated them because they were a thorn in the side of my Miami Dolphin back then, and prevented them from going to the Superbowl back in '92.
Sorry I,along with others that have commented, don't really see the comparison.
Buffalo was #2 offense in 92' and #13 defense in 1992.
Buffalo was #1 offense in 91' and #27 defense in 1991.
Buffalo was #7 offense in 90' and #11 defense in 1992.
Not too bad...
Did you not notice that I didn't say '91?
By the way, show me a link to your stats if you don't mind.
Did you ever read between the lines, I said The Stillers would win? Just pointing out stats between the teams.
This is why I am no longer a Steelers fan since living in Pittsburgh, love the town, hate the fans. Great fans by the way, but They think they rule the sporting universe. The have a very good football team, a recently good NHL team that was almost lost and a very poor MLB team and of course no NBA team, because they claim the dont want one.
I lived in Pittsburgh for 4 years and went to graduated in college in western PA.
I am just hoping for a good game, otherwise we will be drinking beer and eating wings in boredom...
Steelers fans do rule the sporting universe, except maybe the New York Yankees. Every single game they play you will find some Steelers fans there. No other team in football has fans like we do. I still stick by my team no matter what.
--The Lions coaching shake-up continues with the appointment of Scott Linehan from the Rams as new OC. Plus it's starting to look more and more like the Cats will take Stafford with their first pick. I think it's a mistake--but what the hell.
--Chiefs coach Herm Edwards is gone. New GM Scott Pioli never gave a clue it was coming. Owner Clark Hunt called it "not an easy decision." That's always one of my favorite bullshit cliches.
--Dan Reeves is interviewing for the OC job at San Fran. If he gets the job he'll be the seventh in seven years for the Niners. Talk about turnover.
--The Bucs have a new DC: it's Jim Bates. He did wonders in Miami a few years back. Of course he was also Denver's DC in 2007...
I'll always miss Herm's quotes. :1orglaugh
If Dan Reeves gets to be OC in San Francisco I wonder if that means 90% of their plays will be runs off tackle that get about 2 yards. I hope they have a good punter.[/QUOTE]
