Incredible story....the legend of Kurt Warner grows. Although I get tired of his bible-thumping, there is no denying the magnitude of his body of work as a QB in the NFL. He might be the most remarkable player to have ever laced up the cleats as far as a human-interest angle goes. He's an American original for sure.
I grew up in St. Louis and rooted for the Big Red way back in the 70s when the Don Coryell-led Cardinals of St. Louis were a serious NFL power for a short time. What a great team....Jim Hart, Terry Metcalf, Mel Gray, Jim Otis, Roger Wehrli, Jackie Smith, Dan Dierdorf, Conrad Dobler....
I admire and respect the Pittsburgh Steelers organization more than any other franchise in any other American sport. Although I find many Steelers fans to be almost as smug as Cowboys fans, the history and integrity of the Steelers franchise is as rock-solid as their name is. What a terrific football team they are.
I think this matchup is fascinating. I'm looking for a great game....very competitive and probably ending in a Pittsburgh victory (great defense should win out over great offense in a game like this). I will, however, be rooting faithfully for the Big Red to prevail....and anyone who thinks that cannot happen is a fool.
Hey....quick trivia question:
Warner and Roethlisberger both have Super Bowl Championship rings. Is this the first time this has ever happened in a Super Bowl?
Go Big Red......
