Its that simple. As for everything else they assimilated quite well. If you watch movies like battle royale and anime you will see its pretty much their outlet for nationalism these days and resentment....Otherwise they have adopted western fashion and even American sports like base ball.
They might even know more about western fluff in all it aspects than most ordinary joe's who actually come from the western bloc. Examples of this are found sprawled throughout various games from metal gear solid to squaresoft's Final Fantasy series.
Ranges from ideals, philosophers to general mythology.....All found within their anime and videogames....Which where targetted to japanese people long before they enjoyed success in the west.
I find it incredibly interesting because the japanese have a incredible and rich culture of their own which many westerners find interesting. To me this shows they are so comfortable with themselves and that they do not fear others but instead seek to learn from them what they can. A stark contrast to conformity which is rife in their society..........Fucking fascinating. Much admiration and I hope the world comes to their aid.
