the dark knight

It was great to finally see a comics-worthy take on the Joker and Two-Face onscreen. As far as not having everything explained up front, one of the great things about the Batman universe is it's multiple layers. Everything connects to something else, even though it's not always revealed.

I don't agree with that statement. you can't say the greatest ever, because you don't know that something in the future will never be better. You can't even say greatest so far, because individual merits of greatness vary. All you can really say in fairness is "really good"- which also assumes a consensus of goodness. Generally, that would be an adequete statement. To be certain without argument, you'd have to say "It was my favorite."

the dark knight is the greatest batman movie so far because it was truly dark the others didn't even come close

I saw it yesterday for the first time with 3 people who had already seen it. They hyped it up so much that I ws a little dissapointed with it. It was a very good movie and the Joker is brilliant, however I did not like Batman in it and think they missed a great chance to do more with 2face.

So in summation the film was very good but not great.
However the Joker was great.

the dark knight is about batman and the joker not two face he would have been the main villin in the 3rd movie

Sadly.. "You must spread that rep-yuh-tay-shin around, Mr. Torre" pops up every time I try to give you some props.

Take a Hit, Spunker!
Only just got round to watching it tonight.

Too long
Too convoluted
Too many plot twists
Batman's voice was just stupid

Maybe I'm just sad and old (goes without saying) but I preferred Tim Burton's films.

Although I did like the more gritty, hard-edged aspect of 'Dark Knight'

Verdict 7/10

i liked it alot! Yes, Batman's voice was a bit ridiculous, but overall, it was a good film. I LOVE it compared to Burton's films! but it left too many questions. . . guess it's just building the suspense and anticipation for the third installment!

i was left wondering what becomes of Two-Face, the real reason for the Joker's scars, (yes, I know he gave two different explanations) and what becomes of him as the story proceeds (the Joker). I did notice the quick cameo from Scarecrow.

I love both The Dark Knight and Batman Begins and I can't say the same about the previous four Batman movies. These new series are just better.

As for TDK itself... Well, yeah - it was absurdly over-hyped for a Batman movie, but I think that it lives up to most of the praise. Great acting - and not only by Heath Ledger who stole the whole spotlight. A very good story, albeit probably a bit hard to follow in its entirety if you don't pay attention - this is not a typical summer movie that you can sleep your way through and still get what's going on. And it's not a typical summer CGI orgy, which is a great plus for me.

All in all - I think that it's a great movie that offers a very satisfying and rewarding feeling if you see it.

He's dead.

the real reason for the Joker's scars, (yes, I know he gave two different explanations) and what becomes of him as the story proceeds (the Joker)
The real reason is unknown and that's intentional - to offer a feeling of mystery around him. In what sense do you mean "what becomes of him"? After the end? I suppose that he's gonna spend the rest of his life in asylum.

It would be better if Batman didn't growl like a damn bear when he talks. Other than that I thought it was great, it really drew me into the story and made me actually feel what was going on at the time.

I've heard this complaint alot. It's intentional. First, because he has to hide his identity so it's not a bad idea to change his voice since he's pretty well known public figure as Bruce Wayne. Second, because it intimidates and startles the criminals. Third, to show how immersed he is in his animalistic Batman persona.

I didn't like Batman "immersing himself in his animalistic Bat persona." THAT was my criticism. The "bat sonar" capability at the end went too far toward schlocky for me.

BUT, the movie really is brilliant. It is the best comic book movie sequel EVER and has many, many ingenious aspects. I really liked Two Face's character better the second time. Maggie Gylenhaal is still horribly miscast.

Tunsty if this gets a 7/10, cool, but c'mon...those Burton films deserve a 2/10...all the previous Batman films are like bad 80's hair bands and "TDK" is fucking Nirvana.

I pretty much agree with all the posts here....I thought the first one was more entertaining....BUT, Ledger as the Joker was incredible. It was overall a gripping, exciting movie.....but I liked all of the history and the backstory that you get in Begins.

Definitely worth seeing. Maybe a little over hyped, but great still nonetheless.

I give it a 7.

+ Best batman movie so far
+ Good storyline
+ Lots of action and special effects
+ The joker was just great
+ Lots of hidden morals

- Gadgets weren't so great
- Not seeing two face in full glory as a villain
- Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes big mistake
- No real clues who the next villain will be. ( maybe the lawyer who tried to blackmail bruce as the riddler? )
