With a religious majority, so many people seem to forget that this is not a theocracy so they let alot of religious institutions, get away with alot of shit. Not sure what an "atheist monument" is but I'm certainly fine with a secular monument. Something that represents the country and not it's most popular fairy tale.

I just watched a segment on Justice Scalia's response to the DOMA ruling. What a fucking lunatic he is. The fact he was appointed to the supreme court just proves that Reagan wasn't nearly as moderate as people seem to think.
And BC he stated very clearly 10 years ago yesterday that if this decision would be defeated then there would be no way to stop gay marriage from becoming law imminently. So you can say that there's a lot left and that DOMA means very little, but now that the federal government recognizes gay marriage it will be nearly impossible for all states not to follow very shortly. You cannot be married in certain states but not have your marriage not recognized in others, especially now that the federal government recognizes it! all it will take is for a gay couple to sue in those remaining states of bigots to sue for equality based on this finding, and they'll win. You know it.

Quite frankly you're an idiot. You have spent the past few hours researching your response and thinking you're loaded for bear when you didn't have a response within minutes. This isn't the first time that you become befuddled only to try and find the answer you are looking for on one of your favorite liberal sites.
Let me explain this to you and I will try and go slow so you can comprehend.
The ruling means that the federal government will give equal protection under the law in states that recognize same sex marriage.
If a gay couple marries in a state that recognizes same sex marriage and one passes away then the surviving "spouse" will be able to collect survivor benefits.
But if they reside in a state that doesn't recognize same sex marriage and were not previously married in a state that did, no protection or benefits.
This was not a ruling on the constitutionality of same sex marriages pure and simple. Will this open the door for other challenges? Perhaps but that was coming anyway.
The best thing you can do is for all of you that support same sex marriage is to settle on the states that are best suited to your perversion and create several little Gaysylvanias and can live in peace , Vaseline and Barbara Streisand records happily ever after.

I haven't researched anything. I got up a little over an hour ago and took my dogs for a walk. I just got in and turned on Fox news. I know about the state to state differences. What they were discussing was that all it's going to take is a gay couple to move to a state like Utah and then Utah will not recognize their marriage, so they will sue and every one of the pundits said that they would win the suit. They cited Scalia's rebuttal from 10 years ago and said that what he had written will come back to bight him because of today's ruling. This was Fox news, not some liberal website. Good try though.
so how exactly am I an idiot for what I said? Believe it or not the only time I'm on this site or any site is when I'm busy editing videos. While they render I come here. I shot new videos last night so I was transferring files and commented on the news report I had just watched. This morning I am importing videos into my editor so it's ready to go later when I start working on them. I'm going out of town for 2 weeks next weekend and have been shooting extra so I am ahead and can take the time off.
The last thing I do is sit and research and worry about this site.

Um, I cook only for the video and 90% of the food I make is thrown out. I'm not cooking for other people and I guarantee my hair is cleaner than the plates in your kitchen. When I cook for other people I always have my hair in a pony tail.

but the average head chef makes about $175k a year. the top chefs that don't have TV deals or other income make at the most $250k a year. that's Michelin quality restaurants in the US. that's great for him but using him as a way to insult me was a swing and a miss. I didn't even know how to cook anything 3 years ago. 100% self-taught. So he paid for school and spent years learning to make $150k a year. I did it on my own, on my own time and make a lot more.
