For me the 80s was all about the music. Endless hits and amazing new artists on the radio and on this new thing call music videos on TV. If you were Canadian in the 80s, everybody remembers a music video TV show on CBC called "Good Rockin' Tonight" hosted by Stu Jeffries (last time I checked he was doing radio in Toronto on a 70s, 80s, and 90s hit station). Other than the music, the 80s was an exhilarating time to be alive but to really participate in it, you had to have money. Conspicuous consumption was what it was all about but most people couldn't afford it (like me) so we got our fix watching shows like Dallas, Dynasty, and Knots Landing.
