How did the last mod search go? Was it this long or entertaining?

This one is a such a tremendous failure I can't imagine anything defeating it based upon entertainment value.

We're looking for the following qualities:

• The ability to remain unbiased so you can carry out your duties, even if this means reprimanding "board friends"

It is objectively impossible for a Canadian to remain unbiased if a topic involves hockey, cold weather, socialized healthcare or beavers. Anything contrary to those would result in an insta-ban (although you'd get a very polite apology afterwards).

I think we as members get along great whether we agree or disagree on things. This board went though a change. We disagree more politely now than people who agreed on things before. Many who fight for the sake of fighting have left or have been shown the door. We are so well behaved now we could moderate ourselves. Maybe we don't need to ambush anyone after all and can do without that new moderator.

Just to add something...

I'm fairly unfiltered and overcaffeinated and have a tendency to write things that people think are insane. I was especially really out of line one day and started a thread that created outrage. I was bored, I admit. A fella who I respect made the first comment to my thread. It was highly critical with a few other words mixed in. I considered the source of the outrage and corrected my error deleting the thread. I was wrong but a board friend straightened me out. I will continue to make more mistakes as I say what I feel when I feel it. I have to take it easy sharing my thoughts with my poor, sweet wife more than anyone. The torment...
