Suns to wear 'Los Suns' uniforms to honor Phoenix's Latino community

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
That it should be "Los Sols" because mixing two languages looks idiotic.

Well they would have done it on any other Cinco de Mayo anyway...just now it will be politicized.:(

Did they do it last year?

If they were playing on Cinco de Mayo...a few teams do it...no different from green St. Patty's day uniforms some teams do...

I see it more as marketing gimmick than actual political statement. I have no problem with it. I would rather them do something more "political" to oppose this embarrassing law...

You are probably right titsrock, but I still like seeing players such as Steve Nash speaking up, and he has said that everyone on the team appears to be in agreement.

like the retro football jersey, et al, I see it as a way to sell more stuff.

Agreed. All of that shit is about commerce and merchandising.....

Even more so since enactment of the AZ anti illegal law.

The Suns usually wear the "Los Suns" jersey a couple times during the season as do the Spurs, so this isnt just some political statement in wake of the immigration bill.

The Spurs wanted to wear their uniforms tonight too but their team couldn't get them ready in time. As protests go it's pretty lukewarm. Nash has gotten in trouble before for speaking his mind (he opposed the war in Iraq before it started). The idea that politics doesn't belong in sports is misguided I think. If you believe something is wrong and someone is putting a microphone in front of your face, you should speak up.

Michael Jordan spent his whole career avoiding any political activism or controversy or even activity. He could have changed the world, but all he did was sell shoes. Steve Nash has 1/10th the talent MJ had on the court but I admire him more. I guess it doesn't hurt that I agreed with him about Iraq.

The Suns are a business and that means they need to reach out to Hispanics who are a big percentage of the population in AZ. Not only that, they're the only ones who are having kids. Ahh now you see why they drafted Robin Lopez!

I only wish that the my Knicks were in the position to have to decide what kind of uniforms to wear in May.

Lol that's a wonderful idea.

Btw what a stupid thing to do, these Spanglish jerseys. Do you really think teams in Spanish speaking countries put the article on their jerseys? Los Suns? It's not like the regular jerseys say The Suns, they say simply Suns.
