She should be giver he perspectives based on the law, and not on her empathy or her experiences as a latina woman.
I would probably vote for her if I was in the senate, though.

when i was 17 i worked at a burger shop where a hispanic lady was manager, she was very nice but also very lazy and incompetent HTH
Well maybe it was I don't remember.
Unless her name was Sonia Sotomayor how is it relevant to this thread?
Lifetime appts shouldn't be that risky. on my mind, post: 3261297, member: 44516"]Will she be a good addition to the court? Time will tell.

That's too risky of a disposition for a lifetime appointment.
Aside - Again, could anybody please define "Economic Justice" ?
After all, it came outta Ms. Soto's mouth.

What do you suppose that means ? Please be specific if possible.
I can only speculate.
"Economic Justice for All" was an expression used by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops to warn Reagan that his support and implementation of laissez-faire capitalism was a perceived hostility towards Catholic social teachings.
^ ^ I disagree with the Catholics. ?
My concern here is semantics -
What does Econ Justice mean today and how many ways can it be defined ?

There are those who, out of contempt for laissez faire, elect not to participate.
Their condition of serfdom in an otherwise good economy is a condition of their own making. After all, if an illegal alien can make an equitable living here . . . :1orglaugh

Weren't the post revolution Russian people assured economic justice, albeit in slightly different terms ?
President Obama has two more chances to appoint another two Supreme Court judges. (Ginsburg has pancereatic cancer and is losing weight and prognosis is not good. John Stevens is 89 years old and will retire in next 1-2 years) So Obama gets to pick two more Supreme Court judges for replacement of Judge Ginsburg and Stevens. There will be another woman to be nominated after Sotomayer, possible a white female judge too !
So it does not matter later on. The Hispanic will get at least one shot.
Well Scalia is 73 so hopefully Obama gets to replace him too.
The idiot goes hunting (and survived) with Cheney then refuses to recuse himself from the Cheney v. US District Court DC because he said of all things, he has a personal relationship with Cheney and Cheney was being sued professionally.
 Wishful thinking on our part ,however as justices tend to hang in there especially when A President can REALLy alter the courts by replacing them. Souter seemed to be waiting for someone like Obama(liberal) to come along before he retired & was rumored to always dislike D.C. life / political scene.
Frightening to think Bush could have replaced Souter.
If it does happen(Obama replacing Scalia or any 'conservative' Justice) all hell will break loose then.

Oh boy, if Scalia is retiring during Obama administration (real possibility if Obama is elected to 2nd term) then all hells will indeed break loose. Expect filibusters like you've never seen before coming from GOP and tens of millions going into the campaign to block whoever that gets the nomination. Religious Right and Rush will be whipped into a frenzy like never before. We may actually see a Million Man March in Washington organized by the Right for the first time. It'll be madness!
