Sotomayor nominated to high court — first Hispanic

I find some sad humor in the irony that the same people who are patting themselves on the back for being progressive enough to put the first Hispanic on a High Court are some of the same ones who had a problem with the "Mexican-ness" of Alberto Gonzalez.

No sir! VO5 was an idiot and a liar who also flouted constitutional restraints on government.

Demonstrate one example where you can cite his opposition bemoaning him because of his ethnicity.

I'll wait...

I will wait with ya.Think I follow things pretty well.I never heard anything about his relatives period much less they might have been illegals.

Look under personal background ref his relatives...by his own admission.

My reference before was not about politicians but the media.

While I think that most politicians are products of the Peter Principle to begin with, very few are dumb enough to be caught on an open mike making a truly racist statement. Rather, it's their extreme right or left mouthpieces like the idiot Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage on the right or CNNs Cafferty on the left in the example I'm referring to.

Personally I think anyone's ethnicity should be completely ignored. Who cares if Gonzales was the first "Hispanic" AG or Sotomayer the first "Hispanic" SCJ? From a historical standpoint I guess I just don't get all excited about stuff like that. All I really care about is:

1. What's their record?
2. Are they qualified for the job they have been nominated to do?
3. Can they do their job with impartiality?

I don't give a flying flip if they are red or yellow, black or white.

And to be clear and for the record, I too thought Gonzales was a TERRIBLE Attorney General and was glad to see him "resign."

And BTW, VO5...LOL!

Ok I see it.He says his grandfather might have been illegal.I still never heard anyone media or otherwise say anything about that.

Alito (from my home state) was not the 1st italian on the court but they mentioned his life story just like they did Sotomayers.Humble origins and made good etc.

Very american type story's and nothing wrong with eithier of them being acknowleged for it.And nothing wrong with people acknowledging people who are the 1st to break through any glass ceiling. That is what america is suppose to be about that anyone can grow up to be anything even if no one like them has done it before.

Nowhere can you come up with any Democratic Senator, any of the 8 Republican’s, any of their staffs, any of their supporters, nor any Obama Administration officials that said anything about Alberto Gonzalez’ "Mexican-nes".

Because it never happened!

However, you are on a private web site that does not allow racist bullshit and therefore the mods have every right to ban you if they so choose. And of course you then have every right to start up your own porn site and utter all the racist bullshit you want.

im not racist. listen baill, on my last trip to Washington, I met Sotomayor. We had rice and beans and she spilled it on herself. Ok?

Technically, his comment made fun of her "culture", not her "race." We are all humans.

Wrong. Nobody on the Left had a problem with Alberto Gonzalez being Hispanic. Find me one Democrat who said anything like that.

Not that I particularly cared so much about these political rantings, but Pat Leahy sure had problems with Miguel Estrada and his race ! Oh boy did he ever !

Who's Miguel Estrada ?

never mind
:helpme:

Ah man, everybody knows Miguel Estrada! He was that dude that was on C.H.I.P.S. He was Ponch. His partner was Jon.

Stop with the easy stuff. Ask us something hard!
