Something I Just Noticed About Star Wars-Return of the Jedi.

I just got done watching the BluRay edition of the Star Wars saga.
At the end of Return of the Jedi-after the celebration scene where they show Yoda, Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker (Pre Darth Vader) they show the character as Hayden Christensen and NOT the original actor who played the part in the orginal movies.

My question? When did they add Hayden to the original Retun of the Jedi ending and am I just late to the party?

:dunno:

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
This was added a long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away.

Seriously though, Hayden's on mine too, and I bought them all shortly after Revenge of the Sith was released on DVD. Luckily, Han still shoots first.

Because George Lucas is hell-bent on destroying the franchise to make a few extra bucks selling "blu-ray editions" of the movie.

True, but Jesus Christ, the sound and the pic on the BluRay is sick nasty......ESPECIALLY the sound!

For the EMPEROR!!
My sister bought me the box-set of the whole saga a few months back and Hayden Christiansen was in it, but I'm not sure exactly when they made the change. It was probably when they digitally re-mastered it ages ago.

Thats what I figured....
I suppose it was the right thing to do since a whole new generation would be opened up to seeing the original three movies after viewing the new ones.

Seeing Hayden instead of the original actor would both make sense and tie up the loose ends, I suppose!?

you just barely noticed? i saw that a long time ago, when George Lucas decided to tamper with his own work. And yes its a turn off to me, one of the reasons i hate George Lucas is because he feels the need to change his work, only his changes are not for the better, esp. adding Amidala to scenes in ep. 4 or 5 (cant remember)

Yeah, I suppose. I think it's mainly that George Lucas is trying to "perfect" it all the time. That seen, with Hayden, didn't bother me but I noticed some of the dialogue had been changed from the original release. For example, couple of lines of Darth Vaders, that I really like had been changed. But like you said it looks amazing on Blu-Ray so that's helps a lot.

They swapped Hayden with original actor because it was that moment he ceased to be a Jedi. The original actor was "Darth" so it made sense that having redeemed himself, he join the after life as Jedi incarnation.

So the lesson learned here then is to stick to the DVD copies you have or if you don't own the movies go and find the DVD copies of the old versions. Plenty of them about on the likes of Amazon and other websites. I mean the new versions are not worth the cash if they are being tampered with. Better picture and sound or not the movie content should have been as it is on the old movies not how it is in the new movies. So I will stick with the versions of old on DVD. After all that is the true Star Wars movies. Not some bastardizations created by an old fuck who seems to be a one trick pony. And this is why he milks the Star Wars series like he does. It's his only sole venture that's had any worthwhile viewing.

Old News, they did it before the third movie even came out. The Blu Ray set is great though, had a marathon and watched them all in 2 days when it came out.

You just now noticed that? I bought the 2004 Box Set when it came out and remember people being pissed then. I still have yet to watch the Blu-Ray Saga set since I bought it, but I already know of some of the changes. Some good, some downright terrible.

Hayden Christensen was added for the 2004 Special Edition Box Set, along with a billion other changes. Wookieepedia has a list of all the changes in every re-release here:

I wouldn't have started the fuckin' thread if I ALREADY KNEW.....
