Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Yeah, I almost wish you could have played a bit longer as Darth. I don't have the 360 version yet, but I did download the PSP version, and it's pretty sweet, even with some of the toned down gameplay. Order 66 is a fun mode, where you kill 66 waves of enemies (haven't beaten that yet as my Force powers aren't maxed out from story mode). There's also multiplayer duel mode, movie battles (which all end differently besides the Darth Vader vs Luke fight from ESB), and Force Duel, where you fight every lightsaber opponent in the game plus a few surprises.

The extra Jedi Temple missions are cool too. Although the boss battles are some what repetitive, I really did like them. The dialog while dueling your opponent makes it all the better. I chose the light side ending, and the final battle with the Emperor was just badass (especially when he did his "POWER.....UNLIMITED POWER!" line). The fight with Vader was nice as well.

Overall, I say get it for PSP and 360. The PSP has everything the PS2/Wii has (but the graphics are kind of subpar) and more, and is completely different levelwise then the actual TFU game on 360, so it's another new experience. From what I've seen, the PSP/PS2/Wii also has tons of unlockable characters, from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mara Jade, Darth Maul, to Han Solo too.

The 360 version is going to have DLC so I wonder what they will add. I hope some Jedi/Sith battles or extra missions. They'll probably add some costumes and lightsaber colors though.

anyone with the 360 version experiencing like slow down issues?
im playing (single player) and it seems like every now and then and/or every here or there i get like a slow frame rate issue. for a split second or 2.
is there anyway or any reason i need to change settings on my 360 or to "refresh" it.
i read about issues with MassEffect in i think a thread on here.
any suggestions?

Unfortunately you are not the only one, as much as I enjoy the game it has been shipped with glitches galore. Pretty much everybody who has the game has experienced the same or different glitches whether they are freezing issues, lock-ups, or the dreaded *Default Text. If you beat the game and didn't experience the *Default Text glitch then you are one of the lucky ones. If you do get it then all you have to do is erase your game save off of your hard drive and start over. That should clear the *Default Text issue. If you don't do that then you will never be able to get the "Collect All Holocrons" achievement even if you collected them all because the game won't recognize it. Hopefully Lucas Arts is working on a patch to clear up all of the issues. Other than the glitches I love the game and absolutely love the story (I definitely accept it as canon (the light side ending)). In fact I just picked up the book yesterday.

It seems like a good game to go in mess around a bit in for a couple of hours just to have fun. I don't like it as nearly as well as KOTOR or Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series of games. The story didn't impress me that much,...and as a Star Wars fan I do see some continuity problems with it like I though I probably would. I'm sure it's something casual fans of Star Wars might like better, whom it's probably targeted more for. For me the story is just as important as the actual gameplay. I also hope his power levels in it, even in some parts of the story, are just seen as a game mechanic or liberal use of the makers creative license and not what actually happened. I haven't read the novelization about it yet, so maybe it won't be as bad in that. Overall it does seems like it's good mindless fun for a couple of days though. I still probably won't buy it for myself, unless down the road it both gets put out for the PC, and is on sale.

I consider myself pretty much a hardcore Star Wars fan and I was actually looking for continuity issues. I pretty much only noticed two. One that didn't gel too well at first and that was the appearance of Leia but I chalked it up to the fact that the story is probably only 6 months to a year before Episode IV: A New Hope with the prologue happening 6 months to a year after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the second one was the fact that Bail Organa should have looked older, he looks the same way he did in Episode III when he should have aged 20 years (same thing with Shaak Ti for that matter). I thought the story was one of the strongest aspects of the game and that's why I picked up the book (I haven't started it just yet because I'm reading something else at the moment). I figured the book has a lot more going on and gives a more in depth look at the new characters especially Galen Marak (Starkiller). What continuity issues did you notice?

Totally agreed. ^^

Why the hell did they hype it up instead of working on the actual gameplay? It feels like God of war.. without the gameplay. Without the 'force' of attacks. I agree with whoever said 'It's a baseball bat that glows'. I hate how they dumb down lightsabers for family-friendly bullshit. It's a glowing blade of LIGHT.. it's supposed to kill people instantly. A stormtrooper shouldnt take a few hits to go down, let alone a damned AT-ST walking around.

The camera system is the same from the demo.. annoys the piss out of me further because laser bolts are usually coming outta nowhere and whittling down your health.. bleh. I'll rent it again, but not worth a buy until it's patched and all the DLC is released. (FOR FRIGGIN' FREE! I'm not paying anything extra for this ball of crap.)

I think one of the biggest for me is the fact is seems everybody was on the early Death Star and the Emperor must know about people like Bail Organa, yet latter on, at least before the destruction of Alderan in Episode IV he is still around. Not only that but his daughter then somehow becomes a senator. While not absolutly impossilbe or anything, I guess it just wouldn’t make sense unless they retcon a convoluted way that comes about before the movies to make that fit.

Plus while technically not a continuity break, epically considering the deleted scenes from the movies are not canon (After all Shaak Ti didn't die as depicted in that one deleted scene either from Episode III) I guess I didn't really like how they changed what a lot of what people thought when it came to the beginning of the rebellion, and the fact Starkiller is pretty much never mentioned again once Episode IV gets going.

The deal with Star Wars to me is that everything that you've known about is probably going to be retconed later on. Every story that's come out after the Original Trilogy has to go through George Lucas first before it can be considered canon. He offered his insights and told the writers what everybody was up to during this time before Episode IV. I pretty much look at it as if it's good enough for the father of Star Wars and the story is not so out of this world crazy that it just wouldn't fit no matter what you do then it's good enough for me and an acceptable expansion of the Star Wars Universe.

It is Lucas' world and he does have final say on everything, although most of the Extended Universe things aren't actually passed before him or directly approved by him unless they are really big events. That's why he has a whole team of his licensing department to do it for him. I have heard he had more of a hand in this than other things on the other hand. Then again, that isn't always a good thing. Lucas himself has said that he almost never reads any of the EU stuff and considers it somebody else’s story and not his own. I think sometimes that ends up hurting when he gets too involved in things beyond the movies though (Not to even mention things in the movies like Jar Jar, crappy romance dialogue, or the concept of midiclorians among other things.), both because he probably doesn't know as much about it as even a moderate fan of it does, and he's not as big of a fan of it thus making him a little detached to what a great many hardcore fans want to happen.

I definately ended up with a buggy version of the game. Got a replacement thankfully, but I must say, the game didn't really deliver on most of what I thought it promised...

The story is the only redeeming part, otherwise it's a complete disapointment. The story wasnt really great.. but it kept me running thru the game despite stupid bosses, annoying enemies.. and force powers that didnt really have any 'force' to them. For fucks sake why do I have to wait to upgrade my powers?!??!? I had plenty of experience and nowhere to put it at my first time thru. Fucking lame.

Sith Robe ftw!

I'm still pretty fond of the normal training outfit. Heavy (Training) reminded me of Assassin's creed and light was just too.. naked white guy with scars.

I like the Sith Robe with a red lightsaber or gold lightsaber, the Sith Stalker Armor with a black lightsaber, and his Jedi outfit that he wears on the Death Star (can't remember the name) with a black or blue lightsaber.

No no no the black lightsaber is the best find it if you can, this game is the shits love it, it is as i say about most games nowaday a little easy once you get into the game and know what you player can do then it is very nice to play, there are a few differant ending wont spoil it for anyone but i have had two differant ending and have finished it on all levels. anyone got any fav parts to the game yet ?

The black lightsaber is easy to find. I had a much harder time finding the Sith Robe. I love all parts of the game especially when you play through it instead of skipping to specific levels, it plays like a movie.

Does anyone know where the green lightsaber holocron is?
