I think it's still alright. I think at one point somebody must have come up with the whole went downhill after season 9 thing on the Internet and everybody hoped on the bandwagon without actually thinking about it.

I agree with that. I don't watch the Simpsons on a regular basis, but when I do catch an episode, they're still pretty funny. It's not like I sit there with a blank, unamused face the whole time. I still laugh because it's still funny.

But, there was a huge uprising with the "SIMPSON'S SUCK NOW" trend and I think you can thank the internet for that. Most people who bitch about how unfunny The Simpsons now probably either haven't seen a newer episode at all (so they wouldn't even know) or they watch every episode, but just act like they don't.

I miss the 90's episodes that were based around Bart. Those were good. Now, it seems that all episodes are based around Homer. Along with Peter Griffin, Homer Simpson is the cartoon character that I despise most. In the beginning, Homer was more of a father in that he he tried to do things that were right for his family. In recent years Homer has just been a vehicle for showcasing pointless stupidity. Maybe if they went back to their early style it would be better. I guess that goes along the lines of the people that have already said that they need to bring their former writers back.

I've never been much of a fan of the Simpsons, so I can't say if the older episodes are better than the new ones (besides, that's a matter of opinion anyway & thus not really a discussable topic).

I think the show will end in a few years. The older viewers no longer watch the show or are at least considering it & I doubt the Simpsons have the same appeal to younger viewers as it did to the older viewers.

Eventually the viewing rates will drop & that'll be the end of the show.

Since the characters never have to age, I say it can stay on for-frikin-ever.

As long as the material is still creatively funny as it has been..it should leave the market when it fails to deliver the ratings.

Well if it's still on there must be an audience for it. I have stopped watching it since Matt Groening left to do Futurama after I think it went to shits and it has just gotten worse and worse. If they bring the original writers back and they colour the drawings by hands as in the past I would keep watching them till I die, but that's never going to happen so they might as well just pull the plug now I wouldn't care much.
