Scots sniper kills taliban leader with longest shot

Someone has their signals crossed. I always thought the longest confirmed in that theater was over 2400 m with a McMillan Tac-50 by Canadian Rob Furlong during Op Anaconda.:dunno:

It never said the longest kill in the world it said the longest kill in Afghanistan

Way to go my fellow Scot :hatsoff:

A commendable feat to be sure but Furlong's kill at over 2400 m is purported to be the longest in Afghanistan.

Sorry m8 my mistake , I didnt think Canada were involved in Afghanistan , infact I didnt even know Canada had an army?

Would Canada's army consist of a lot of French?

If it did they would just runaway or surrender anyway , like there cousins across the pond

If the president is getting 30 death threats a week/day/hour stories about this kind of accurate shooting will give you a sinking feeling

This doesn't give me pause as the Secret Service covers all contingencies...what worries me most is the fact that the Secret Service was rolled up into DHS under Bush.....that was dumb IMO.

Just like when he rolled FEMA up into DHS...just fucking dumb.

To all my friends from Canada, I didn't mean to laugh... but I couldn't help it. Me sorry.

Helluva shot, BTW. I used to feel special when I could hit a stationary 2 liter bottle at 500 yards - and I'd need a couple of shots to get dialed in. These One Shot, One Kill guys always amaze me. Just like the SEAL team that took out those pirates a few months back. Simply amazing!

Oops. I just read it more closely. I guess he was more of a Two Shots, One Kill guy. Still, that's some amazing shooting.

For some reason Canadians get a bad rap but they are some of the toughest professionals in warfare IMO and are generally considered to have some of the best Snipers in Afghanistan...

There was an inquiry into some criminal acts by their snipers a few years ago resulting in Furlong leaving Canada's armed forces but all of these guys pull of enormous feats of marksmanship IMO.

Same as with most anything else: stereotypes sometimes take on a life of their own. The movie "Canadian Bacon" (not to be confused with our pal, Bacon Salt) probably just added to the stereotype about Canada. And unless a plane crashes or something like that, we don't really get any news about Canada in the States. There are easily 20 times more stories about Israel on U.S. network TV than about Canada.

My stereotype of Canada is Terrence & Philip , boring , snow , mounties , French speaking people , mooses & a really bad soccer team & nothing much else , kind of like Switzerland over here in Europe , I dont think I have ever heard any news from Canada in all my life !!! :wave2:
