Royal wedding thread!

not to insult any of the Brits on the board, but come on. im fucking tired of all the talk, and i cant wait for it to be over when i wake up. as i look at facebook right now, numerous people are posting about it, IN AMERICA!. now i realize its like a girls dream for something like this. but when it comes to news stations in my home area putting some substantial air time towards it, im kind of dumbfounded.

and to Ulysses31 (cause i like you and your the only Brit i trust on here due to your honesty) who pays for the wedding thats supposed to cost like 48 million USD? is the royal fortune simply a family fortune, or is it supplemented by the entire UK economy? honest question that has a 50/50 thing to do with the wedding, cause ive always wondered regardless.

Oh, that's just fucking charming, that is:mad:
:D:D

But, yes, I'm ready to puke blood with boredom over this non-event.

Talk about rats clinging to a piece of shipwreck ... hey, we've bankrupted the country, economically, socially, culturally, morally, we've got fuck all idea how to fix it ... I know, let's distract everyone's attention away from the stinking dead elephant in the room (namely the demise of the UK) with a big phony hoo-rah to fool the plebs into thinking waving a little flag and some bunting at an Imperialist relic makes Britain great again, even for a day ...

What a load of old bollocks.

It's hard to find an exact answer, I think Prince Charles and The Queen foot the bill for most of the actual wedding but all the policing/security and street cleanup etc will be met by the state, and that will be huge considering the number of people out there. Also making the event a bank holiday is estimated to cost the economy billions as workers will have a 4 day holiday (monday is also a bank holiday) on top of the 4 day easter holiday last week, wedding would have been better on the weekend.

I think America's obsession with the Royal family stems from not ever having a monarch, many people have a romantacised view of honourable kings, beautiful princesses and dashing princes, especially to impressionable teenage girls. We've had the monarchy for centuries and have seen some terrible ruthless kings lead the country and its people into war over personal feuds, we hear all the stories about them that show they are just as flawed as the rest of us which you probably don't hear of in the states. Also they ain't exactly a representation of everything British like people seem to think of them as the current Royal family is essentially German and even The Queens husband is Greek showing in marriage many would rather marry an upper class foreigner that a British born commoner. I suppose the whole event gives the kids something to get happy about and brings some happiness to some people in what are difficult times so this wedding doesn't really bother me too much.

TOC is Canadian, the biggest suckups to the Royal family in the entire Commonwealth :D

I heard she had to sign some kind of contract telling that, in case of divorce, whatever the causes, William will keep the kids
