The word 'whore' usually has negative connotations, and when someone calls another person a whore, that person usually intends to say something negative about the other person. I think we all understand this (and it is true regardless of what meanings of terms you can find in dictionaries). In any case, it is not the words themselves that is the issue, it is the (negative) attitude that (normally) comes with them. This attitude can be displayed using other words as well.
Actually, if you are a mature adult with a grasp of the language, the use of any word can be determined easily as to what the intention of the speaker is.
The translation is up to the listener, and you may apply childish meanings as you wish.
Most employees whore themselves out, and many people do things not up to the highest moral standards for monetary rewards. Whoring...
When I am given nasty or excessively hard work to do, I do it as required by my "contract" with my employer...I take his money, I do the job.
When the line is crossed and I feel personally disrespected, I stop being an employee and leave.
A whore continues to work at what is required, beyond any sense of personal respect.
Or even starts at that point, as in doing vids for someone who doesn't respect them, for an audience that loves to watch but despises them, and they hate the work but take the money...that crosses the line into "whoring".
But...calling someone a whore is disrespecful, even if they are on a corner selling their worn out ass. "Hooker" is nicer...
The difference is using a verb to describe an action, or a noun to describe a person.
I can respect a person, even if I don't respect an action they have taken.
