I haven't been in a Michael Jackson thread on here until just a little while ago and I guess I have something that I have to say. Let me just state right off that what I'm about to say isn't about Jackson at all, but about Freeones policy regarding him here.
Is there a reason that out of all the people in the world, and considering the fact that Freeones has been adamant about allowing people to state their opinions freely on here as long as they don't directly flame another member that they have picked Michael Jackson to receive some type of very special immunity that nobody else has that now doesn’t allow anybody to say anything bad about him?
I can see not allowing direct insults or slams of another member, but to now extend that to a person that: 1. Isn't (and was probably never) a member of the board. 2. Was a known public figure., and 3. Is now even dead doesn't sit very well with me. It defiantly is a black mark on this messageboard, maybe it's biggest since the 2005 schism a little before I got on here, and even then from what I went back and read and have learned from other people a lot of that I consider bad only in the way it was handled and not necessarily what Freeoens did for some of it.
Plus it's not very consistent considering numerous people are being talked bad about right now, maybe this instant, and the powers that be don't seem to mind. (like Sarah Palin for example) If she died or if some athlete or movie star died does that now mean we can no longer talk bad about them? Will Freeones retroactively apply that to everybody else that’s already dead and allowed things to be said about them before. If Osama Bin Laden died tomorrow would Freeoes say the bad things he did were in a higher power's hands now and give him the exact same immunity, and if we can criticize some or all of the others people what does that mean? Does it now mean that Freeones will now have an official list of people that we can and can not talk bad about? Will they now take an guestimate of how well that person was liked and not allow bad things to be said about them if people don't like the fact other people don't like somebody? That seems like a pretty treacherous road to walk down.
