I just got the e-letter, too. What a fucking bummer. Now we have to like peek into our bank accounts five times day just to make sure the hacker assholes didn't steal anything.:ak47::violent:
(At least this gives me the excuse to use these smilies!!)

i just got the Email this morning (thursday 4/28) although it said tuesday 4/26 on or in the header!

i have no idea if i ever gave any credit card info. i only used the points cards that you buy at the store.
so how am i supposed to check to see if what info i gave if i cannot log into the site?

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Yep got the same e-mail

oop, just got it. doesnt mean much. theyre probably sending them to everyone

If you guys notice in the email,it says that they were compromised sometime between the 17th and 19th,but the funny thing is that they didn't shut the severs down until the 21st.

I smell something fowl here.I think that they knew of the problem probably earlier than they let on,just to ensure that some of the new title releases would still sell.

Sadly, I think you're point is spot on. Stupid Sony... :hammer:

WTF is up with all this shit....I have received TWO letters in the mail/email in the past few days!! First with the Texas Comptroller and now this shit! WTF I wish people would just let me enjoy my hard earned money.

It has little to do with being free, and more to do with Sony's laissez-faire attitude towards nearly anything online. They were aware of this issue almost a full day before they did anything, and the approach they've taken is nothing short of outrageous. Releasing next to no information, refusing to set a firm timetable, or even give customers the common courtesy to say that their personal information is safe. They really shit the bed on this one. All they had to do was be a bit more hands on and this probably would have been avoided.

I wouldn't be surprised if their first reaction was to think of how to spin doctor this to make them look as good as possible instead of thinking about how to fix the problem.

I don't think X-Box fan boys should say shit about Sony if u remember the 360 was down for 2 weeks when there servers crashed and they couldn't figure out how to get it back up. Now that said I am not defending Sony in any form because they have fucked up really bad this and screwed the year of the playstaion with this shit. If they would have handled the PR on this smother and quicker they might have been ok but the fact that they knew 4 days before they said anything is bullshit. But this exactly why I never put personal info any where on the web because I don't care what company it is anybody can be Hacked but the fact that Sony didn't have the info encrypted really pisses me off too.

Sadly, that's exactly the route they've taken so far.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Those events aren't even remotely comparable, unless you're simply willing to bash X-Box because the system went down at all. In the absolute worst case that X-Box has even seen, the problem was identified and communicated within four hours of the problem, and the first thing Microsoft did was confirm confidential information was safe. And in the end, guess what? It wasn't Microsoft's servers that went down. Yeah, it's frustrating to have the online network for any system down, but Sony took four days to even address the public on an issue they knew about a week beforehand. This issue has nothing to do with "fanboys" at all, it's a simple case of Sony fucking up worse than anyone has to this point. They've got to own up to their fuck up, and in my opinion, compensate users. Microsoft has addressed each of their issues, Nintendo has addressed the issues with receiver burnouts, and Sony has even owned up to the consoles they inadvertently bricked when they started banning custom firmware. So why is this any different? Simply put, their lack of action and communication is beyond excusable. Forget the fanboy issue, call it what it is: a fuck up the likes of which the console world has never seen before.

[As a PS3 preferred console gamer]
My :2 cents: are like this...
Sony's take on the whole problem...
A large company, like any needs to own up when something is wrong!
Don't send me a fucking stupid email, (days, weeks, however long it was ago since this started) talking about the "hackers" may or may not have my credit card info. No one wants to read something like this days, or weeks after the shit done already happened! Plus, when they send shit out like that, it sounds to me like they don't even know what the fuck is going on!
Shame on you Sony Playstation Network, shame!

Hey Shayd why don't you try reading before you even comment on anybody's thread. Cause if you would had read what I had said you would have seen I said that Sony fucked up big and is a fucking joke right now, but I believe Sony will Compensate Every 77 million user in some way. That way is yet to be seen but I am sure they will. Anywho Sony might be a fucking joke right now but Microsoft will always be a fucking joke to me.

Sure:

Was that not written?

Overract much? Christ, you made a comparison between an absolute imbroglio at Sony, and a network outage at Microsoft. I simply pointed out that there wasn't a comparison to be made. I uttered nary a peep about you being a Sony apologist, I merely commented on the inaccuracy of comparing two events that have little in common. I don't know what to say to you if you don't think I read what you said, I can only ascribe it to blissful ignorance.

For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email,

are asked for this information, you can be confident Sony is not the
entity asking. When the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services are

so I/WE are fucked until the system is back up and running before i can get to my account and change any info? can't you get into your account through online with a regular computer?
if you have to wait until it's back up...that's fucked up.

A guy checked into the hotel I work at yesterday. One of his credit cards was cancelled because of a bunch pf purchases he didn't make. Could be coincidence, but he is blaming the Sony debacle.

If he truly is blaming this on Sony, then it should be partially his fault for not getting a new card.

Emails were sent, and there has been enough news out that anyone that fears that they could be a victim, could take proper precautions to prevent any fraud perpetrated on them.
