Well, at least he won't be 'lonely' any more. :dunno:
Booya!!!

19 months seems excessive. Did he have priors? What the hell was he doing in that dump L.A. anyway? Isn't he from MN like you?
Please explain to me what a "typical Yank overreaction" might be.
Maybe 19 months sound a bit harsh perhaps 2 to 5 months in prison sound a bit right. I not sure how he innocent after he been drinking underage.

Anything that has to do with they United States according to mrtrebus.
I disagree with U.S. drinking laws too. They're not tough enough. And before ya give me any shit I got three DWI's. Kids in their 20's (not all) act more & more like they're still in high school and have no responsibility and shouldn't suffer any consequences for their actions. Add alcohol and it gets worse by degrees.
As far as this Dan kid goes he either did something much worse than he lets on, or he already has a criminal record. And that's a fact.
The thing about him being in LA county though, I don't know why a relatively non-violent offense would be treated so harsh. Their prison systems out there have to be packed like sardines. In my (inner city) county they let people off for a lot worse shit than that because the jails are so packed. If you get in trouble in the suburb counties over here though, they stick it in you. Especially the DWI's in a bunch of counties on the outskirts. They literally throw you in prison now in some counties for a DWI.I tend to disagree. First resisting arrest is a felony. The distinction between felony and misdemeanor is misdemeanor sentences are a year or less..felonies are a year or more.
I don't know what blow up dolls cost but assuming they're not cheap...it could not only be more than a petty theft charge or theft (shoplifting) the size of the thing makes it likely robbery since he couldn't conceal it. Therefore, he could have probably been confronted trying to take the thing and possibly stole it under threat bodily harm to the clerk or owner. Now he's potentially facing 2 felonies...before he even gets to the 2 misdemeanor cases for underage drinking and possibly drunk in public.
He actually could have gotten off light considering robbery alone can get you 2 or 3 years.:2 cents:
Did I ever tell you I got let go three times in a three month period absolutely plasterd behind the wheel. I mean, I am dead serious. One time I wasn't that lit, and the other two, well I had went to high school with the officer and he let me ago, and the last one was on Superbowl Sunday in the suburbs. I still to this day can't believe I got let go that many times in such a short period.
Well anyway, turns out I wish they would've charged me anyone of those times, because I wound up totalling my car and really taking it up the ass from the suburb over by my house. I lost at least $12 grand that day. I know, serves me right.

No, you never told me that Bloody. I've been let go a bunch of times too but not in such a short period of time. I'd like to think it would have scared me enough to knock it off but I know it wouldn't have. Alcohol is a powerful master.
Well I can't speak to that but to say at some point they have to sentence people accordingly for serious crimes and you're not going to get 5 or 6 months assuming you commit at least 2 felonies.

I wish they would've got me on Superbowl Sunday though, because I was still in my county before the suburbs. I had to learn the hard way. I'm just glad I didn't kill someone, and all the AA and MADD shit they made me do after that stunt was an eye opener.
Yeah, but we all know that if they're your first 2 felonies ever then they'll get pled down to misdemeanors. Which is why I say he either did something far worse or already has a record.
I know buddy. My best friend died in my first DWI. It was a long time ago and I wasn't ready to learn my lesson yet. I decided that if he was still around we'd be drinking. And that's all it took for me to get back to drinking again. A drunk can always find an excuse. Not that I'm saying your a drunk Blood, just speaking from personal experience.
Again...this is assuming he plead. For all we know they could have went into court delusional and thinking he could beat it. And in that case if he lost he would get the max...or much more time than if he plead down the charges.
That is the leverage pleading allows you.
No, I've had my share of issues, there is no doubt about that. Both my uncles and my grandfather were a bunch of lushes. My grandfather was doing a liter or so a day when he was 76. It's a beautiful feeling man when that first buzz kicks in, but when you wake three days later and don't remember a hell of a lot, that's a problem.
Which is why I say he either did something far worse or already has a record.
You were fighting a losing battle right from the start brother.
Yeah, and I've been told before. It sucks, but there's always that "I can maintain and be a 'social drinker' " mentality as you probably know. Actually for me it got really bad about a year ago when my gf and I broke up. That was some rough shit that almost drove me overboard.
