Red Wings take it in 5 over Ducks
Buffalo in 6 over Senators

Red Wings over Sabres in 6 in Stanley Cup

GO WINGS!

The Sabres won't be going anywhere unless they get that "power" play going and stop Ottawa from getting behind the D almost every shift. No,I'm not picking on Max because I wish he played for Philly. As I stated long before I hate the Sabres and have zero respect for them because A) Their coach is the biggest whiner in the league. B) The figure skater style they promote. C ) Their fans think just because Buffalo won the Presidents Trophy (which means nothing) that they're somehow entitled to play for the cup.

The Presidents trophy means you're the best team in the league, i.e., you won the most games all season long, so statistically, you're the best. Now it's head to head elimination, which is a different game entirely, and can all depend on how good you are over a two week stretch. So Buffalo could win it and not be the best in the league (if they weren't), but over the whole season, they were, so if they lose it, they lose with everyone knowing they were this season's best hockey team. But obviously that's not enough to Buffalo because everyone around here is miserable as hell, President's cup or not, being that we are 0-1 down and more importantly, we got played off the ice.

If we can't turn it on in Spring, we don't deserve to be in the showdown for the Cup... but that doesn't take away that we are the NHL's best team, over the course of the whole year, with that many games played, statistics won't lie.

The Presidents Trophy is just a reward for the best REGULAR SEASON RECORD. Fox,you can throw statistics and what went on in the regular season out the window in the playoffs. You either nut up for the 2 months or you're going home. The Stanley Cup is what truly determines the best. Ottawa has been the most dangerous team in the post season and I don't believe for a second Buffalo can handle the style of play that the Sens are capable of bringing night in and night out.

Oh I agree with you. The Sens have been better in the postseason, but what will determine who goes to the cup is purely who is better in the next 3-6 games between the two of them, not what happened in the previous series'.

The best regular season record for me is always going to be the season's best team, because it means that for a prolonged period of time, facing all opponents weak and strong, you won more games than anyone else. The Playoffs are hardly about luck or flashes in the pan, but other factors can weigh heavily such as injuries, fatigue, and coming up against an opponent that is not as good as you, but somehow has your number, or gets the calls their way, or something. In the regular season, those variables go out the window because it's all about longevity and consistency.

Having said that, I'd trade that 1 seed for the 8 seed if it were a guarantee of going to the cup: obviously the cup is the only thing that matters - of course it is. But even if I weren't a native Buffalonian, I'd say that the team who win's the President's is the best team of the year, and if they collapse in the playoffs, even though everyone else will say "bust", I will say, they were still the year's best team, period. In any case - Buffalo will have to play at least 5 times as well as they did to get by the Senators, and you're right - the Sens are DAMN tough to beat and it's going to be trial by fire for our Sabres.

I'll say it again as clear as I can. The team that hoist that big silver cup with the names going around it is who they consider the best. No if ands or buts about it. Nobody remembers who had the best record from October - April. They remember who walked away with the ultimate prize when it's all said and done.

The Sabres won't be going anywhere unless they get that "power" play going and stop Ottawa from getting behind the D almost every shift.
I agree. I think their power play record sucks.

Game one Vs the Sens was horrid - they just never got going. Ottawa walked all over the Sabers and they deserved that win.

Too bad our special teams is the worst I've ever seen for a Sabres team

Poor Sabres!! Im so happy they lost. Fuck all New York Teams.

Yea, Canadian teams are so great aren't they? What are you jealous that no Canadian team has won a cup in, oh, 14 years? Maybe it should be fuck all Canadian teams  Nahhhh, I take that back, they do a good job fucking themselves. :rofl2:

Have I ever said my teams are good lol(Leafs,Blue Jackets)? I know they suck but I still hate New York teams and that will never change in all sports.

The Sens are really good, I don't want them to win over Buffalo but I think they will if Buffalo don't play better like they did in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd game.

They could have win that game if they would have played constantly (It was 2-0 Buffalo in the beginning)

I don't want to jinx this but the 'Wings are out of the second round and there's no cluching and grabbing Devils in the way. Woo Hoo.

The refs robbed the game from us.

Fox

Starting with the excuses already? The refs had nothing to do with Buffalo losing that game. If anything it's because of that lackluster powerplay they've been putting out. How many chances did you have to cash in and couldn't? That's right. 7 chances. The fact is that Ottawa is faster, more physical, and more determined right now.

i have to agree to some degree. most ny teams are garbage.

Like the Yankees? True they have not won a series in 7 years and right now they suck big donkey dick....better than waiting 86 years isn't it? I can stand to wait a few years for another World Series ring and at least i know it will be in my lifetime ;)

Fox-Please, you are an intelligent guy, don't use this "refs robbed the game from us" nonsense, I, and I am sure many other of us have said it in the past as well and we all know it's bullshit, if our teams had played better, then they would have won, period. You know how many times during the series with Buffalo that the Isles got robbed on calls? A lot, but that isn't why they lost, they lost because they got outplayed in every way. Buffalo lost that game the other night because they slipped up, that last minute goal was not the ref's fault, it was Buffalo's fault.

Yea ok so if we were better with special teams we'd have a 1-1 tie or even better, but they robbed the first goal from us, and then they gave us two crappy penalties to take us to a 5 on 3 power play, which even the senators announcers said were very harsh, the first one was complete bollocks, and that got the senators back in it. But oh well, if we deserve to play in the Stanley Cup, we'll find a way to win 4 of the next 5 games against them. I'd be the first to admit if the refs GAVE us a game, but they did take this one, at least that had a lot to do with it.

Fox

Wow, you had a goal disallowed. You got it back within a couple minutes and then took a 2 goal lead that you couldn't hold. The refs had nothing to with Buffalo's inability to seal the deal. The Senators are doing all the little things and dirty work along the boards that Buffalo seems unwilling to do. There's no way you win the next 4 against that Senators team.
