Oh god yeah, it hurt! That tattoo was the most painful one I got. It hurt the most up by my neck and down at my lower back. But while I was getting it, I had a bunch of friends around and we were drinking and I had a magazine to read to distract myself from the pain, and the thing that kept me going the most was to keep reminding myself, "I want this tattoo. Bear with it. Stick it out. The pain is only temporary."

The symbols mean love, friendship, wisdom, hope, dream, morality, music, and tea (inside joke between myself and some old friends of mine).

That's why I asked. I love back tattoos on women. But I heard back tattoos and foot tattoos are some of the most painful tattoos to get. Especially directly on the spine. I guess because the nerve endings are right under the skin there.

They do. There was even a chinese guy once who complimented my tattoo and he himself read it off to me before I got the chance to tell him what it meant. It's right! I did my research searching for the proper symbols before getting it.
