Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

I understand this more than you know. A bit of advice....find a small and possibly even local magazine. Offer to write a few articles for free just to get published and gain some credibility as a writer. I speak from experience. I get paid to write an advice column as "Nikki Nova" but I do NOT want to be stuck just writing stuff in and around the adult industry or the topic of sex as "Nikki Nova" forever. Any REAL writer wants much more than that. I love writing my advice column on love, sex abd relationships but come on! I need editorials and think pieces covering everything from music to politics to religion and news etc and so on. I write that under different names and am doing it for peanuts and in some cases free for a couple different magazines just to get enough published to show my range and style. It's already helped tremendously. Just like anything Vern....ya gotta pay your dues and prove yourself. Once you have..people will be oming to you.

To become a full time writer. I have written a spec script for a local producer that never got made. I have posted a few articles on random web sites and have even started my own blog dedicated to movies.

One more comment. Nikki I love the christmas pics. I just met a girl last night at my band's show land we hit it off pretty well, and I realized that all the girls I have dated in the past have had tattoos. I think your beautiful with out the tats, but wit them they become like the chocholate syurp in a bowl of Ice Cream

I'm sure you're not alone in these desires Allen. Life is hard. Families don't stick together like they used to. It's in large part the times we live in and the programming. I'm so sorry and I DO hope that your kids make it through without too much scarring.
Love and Light to you

hrmmm...
i wish i could say stitching my family back together, but sometimes done is done, and it just takes awhile to figure that out... i've got great family & friends who've helped me figure that out...

Sooo... i would just wish that somehow my kiddos were protected from being scarred by the problems we've faced this year... no acting out, no loss of trust... i'd wish they could go back to being just kids again.

And i'll settle for their getting past that rebelling & putting themselves at risk stage... figure that's, what, another 5 or 7 years until true maturity sets in?

BUT i'm not going to complain... they're here, they're healthy, they know they're loved, so i expect i'll get what i'd wish for if i'm just patient.

my buddy visiting from Houston would cuff me on the back of the head & say 'twins... you'd wish for twins.' But that'd probably kill me, so we'll be ready to enjoy 2011 more than the year almost past.

Damn... way to much a downer... & I've got friends facing major health issues, legal issues, & more avaricious ex's, so i'm not gonna complain... besides, how many folks have the likes of this gang & the thread's Maven to type to?!

Thank you for your kind words. While I am here I would like to add Merry Christmas.
I also have an old joke.

How can you tell a blonde has been using a computer?

There is white-out on the screen.

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

Two women were sitting and talking about Christmas gifts from their husbands.
The first lady, a newly wed said her husband gave her a diamond ring and a new Cadillac. He told her, if you don't like the ring you can use the car to take it back.

The second lady had been married for many years and said her husband did something similar, but he gave her a pair of socks and a dildo. And told her if she did not like the socks she could go f@#$ herself.

As I sit back.......jamming to some Zepplin.....lighting up a PCP laced blunt.....waiting for Santa.....I thought I'd pop in here after I voted and posted my votes for the contest.

Here is a question that I would like to pose for everyone to respond to: What is your favorite Christmas/Holiday film (& Why if you are so inclined)?

Mine is an oldie, but a goodie......mine is "It's a Wonderful Life"

I've seen it SEVERAL times, so I know it by heart by now....and it probably doesn't excite me like it once did, but I consider it to be the all-time Christmas classic! It is a classic story of trials and tribulations. A story of selflessness. A story of hopelessness & desperation that leads to ultimate redemption. A story of realizing one's own self worth. A story of realizing the impact that each and everyone of us has on others.....though it often goes unrecognized. A story of genuine love and friendship. A story that calls into question who among us is really "rich" & what being "rich" is. It is all of these things and more, and despite the storyline, it never stoops to the level of revenge against the main antagonist.....Mr. Potter. Though it would have been easy to have Mr. Potter "get his" at the end, I believe the spirit of the story would have been ruined if that would have happened.

Now, I could write forever concerning my one criticism of the movie......namely the oversimplification of one's impact in the lives of others. For instance, when George "was never born," despite the fact that he was the oldest, his younger brother was still born. I would argue that the 1st born has the greatest impact on the lives of the parents, and sets in motion the events that lead to other siblings. I have an estranged (used to be really close) younger brother who is only 1 1/2 years younger than me. I would argue that had I never been born.....my younger brother would not have been born either, due to the impact that my birth had on her life and lifestyle. My mother might still have had 2 kids, but they would not have been my brother and me. That's just one example of the criticism, but that one criticism aside.....I still love the movie!

Now before I leave for the night, I will leave you with one important piece of wisdom that the movie leaves us with at the very end of the film:

Remember, (George) No man is a failure who has friends!!!

I find too often many people forget what the real important things in life really are!!!

That being said......Nadolig Llawen, Kala Christouyenna, Nollaig Shona Dhuit, Shub Naya Baras, Glædelig Jul, Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan, Frohe Weihnachten, Feliz Natal, Joyeux Noel, Buon Natale, Feliz Navidad.....no matter how you say it....Merry Christmas and much love to everyone! (Or for my fellow Bill Maher lovers.....Merry Mythmas!)

ps. I'm not really lighting up a blunt laced with PCP.....not my bag....besides that shit would probably kill me! The Zepplin part is true. I'm listening to Zepplin and getting things ready and prepared for my Christmas guests. I believe I would be quite an unpopular host without any food! How lame (aside from Zepplin.....Hell they still rock) is that???

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

I just wanted to pop in today and say hello to everyone and Merry Christmas!!!! I got the surprise of a lifetime this morning. The greatest gift I could have gotten and NO it was nothing material.
I hope that you are all having a Happy Holiday. Most of you know that I am a vegetarian right? Well.....I actually baked a small turkey for my cat. No lie! I have been conflicted as to whether that was/is hypocritical or giving. I choose giving. She is soooo happy right now all stuffed with a belly full of turkey and passed out in front of the space heater and every now and then she looks at me like " I love you so much Nikki" hahahahaha. Anyway Merry Christmas and please read about a wonderful Christmas miracle that I got this morning

Merry Christmas, Nikki. I really am so happy for you.
Cats are carnivores by nature, so I don't think you should worry about. An all veggie diet would probably be worse for her. So I side with you that it is giving.

It's always great to have your family around you at any time of year - more so at Christmas, so it is heart warming to hear that your uncle got in touch this morning.

Merry Christmas.

I agree that it was DEFINITELY giving. Cats are naturally meat eaters, humans aren't (the whole dental structure is that of a plant eater). Now, I would be the definition of a hypocrite. Now, I'm sure most of you have figured out that I have a naturally analytical mind. That in mind, on more than one occasion I was eating meat, and I actually thought about the animal that "provided" that meat & actually felt guilty about eating it. I've read stories about what the animals go through. Without being too graphic, I picture that poor animal going about his/her business one minute, and not hurting a soul, and the next minute they are killed. Though I grew up in an area that hunting was big, and I had some interest in it, I never actually did go hunting.....because I never remotely saw shooting poor defenseless animals as being sporting.....and any meat I needed I could buy at a store (though venison isn't that easy to come by) And yet, to this day I continue to eat meat. And, still from time to time, I go through the thought process, and feel guilty again.

I have actually considered becoming a vegetarian (for health reasons, and the whole guilt thing), but I'm not sure how easy it would be to ween myself off meat. Now feeling guilty about doing something (from time to time anyway), and continuing to do it......that is a hypocrite....and his name is me! And before anyone calls me a pussy.....I love football and hockey and women damn it!!!

I was just reading the other day that in the original script, the angel Clarence actually confronted Mr. Potter (played by Drew Barrymore's Great-Uncle Lionel) about what he had done to George and Uncle Billy. I wonder how that would have played out, but it might explain why Clarence abruptly disappeared in the finished story (though the part where he confronts Mr. Potter was cut). I might have worked with Clarence confronting him, but I still believe the earth bound cast getting their revenge against him would have ruined the film.....because that wasn't what the story was about. Another funny thing is that, one of the kissing scenes between James Stewart and Donna Reed was so passionate it didn't pass the censors & it was cut/shortened. That is funny given some of the stuff that passes the "censors" today. Heck, that was tame in comparison.

The star of the movie, James Stewart was born and raised in the city of Indiana, Pennsylvania. My Uncle actually had a dental practice briefly (before settling in Seattle, via New York and New Orleans) in Indiana, PA & my mother worked with him there. James Stewart's father, despite having a famous son, continued to run the family hardware store in town. My Uncle and Mother both said what a great guy his father was and how down to earth he was. Now, neither of them actually met James, but they did know his dad.....so I'm related to people who knew James Stewart's father.......woooo hoooo!!!

Now if any of you got the idea that I could get you a great deal on some dental work through my Uncle.....Hell he's 83 years old now, and is basically retired (he also taught at the University of Washington, he's now a professor emeritus) now, but if you'd feel safe.....I'll see what I can do! He was a highly respected dentist, but at 83, I just don't know if I'd even feel safe!

Man, I feel old! I'm 38, my dad is dead, two of my aunts are dead (one was in her 80's, the other her 90's). My Uncle is 83, my mother is 73 (74 in February). Gees, then in some families you have people in their 20's who are grandparents!

But seriously, It's a Wonderful Life is the greatest Christmas movie of all time......and I'd go far as to argue that it is one of the most, if not the most MEANINGFUL movie of all-time!

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
