I take it that you don't know much about Alabama. Ha ha ha! Well, the deep south really...but YEAH! Ha ha ha! Put it this way...racists, narrow minded, prejudiced people, slack jawed hicks, poorly educated, fear mongering religious zealots...who are of course HYPOCRITS!!! That's a fair assessment! I never deny where I am from...because that will always be a part of me. And, though I haven't been back in awhile, I'm always gracious when those who were ASSHOLES in my youth tell me what a nice young man I grew up to be...then being judgmental as usual...they proceed to tell me that I turned out better than my brother because HE has a few tattoos and his ear pierced...and I don't! Ha ha ha! I guess leopards REALLY never change their spots! Ha ha ha!

Actually, I live in Alabama, so I do know quite a bit about it. Lol.
I understand where you are coming from, but not all of us are like that.

Btw, I went to a very racist all white high school so far out in the country I would make your area of Pennsylvania look like the middle of downtown New York city. I don't say hate very often, but I hated that school. And they hated me right back. You see, I am half Asian, and so I was less than a 3rd class citizen there.
The funniest thing is my old school is not even in Alabama.

But one thing I have learned, there are assholes where ever you go. I have just learned to deal with them and go on with my life.

I agree with you who???, and, just to clarify, the description I gave was of the area in which I grew up in PA. It's just that in a small town (of about 200 in the "metro" area...maybe 120 or so right in town) the assholes do tend to stand out a bit more that in an urban setting. Also, they are hard to avoid when you see them virtually everyday when you leave the house! Ha ha ha! I believe Alabama is used in the joke because, in a lot of ways, the non-Pittsburgh/Philly part of the State has many of the same problems that plague the deep south, and in part due to the reputation Alabama gained in the 50's and 60's during the civil rights era.

Trust me, though I never knowingly met a member of the Klan...it isn't just popular in the South! When I was in college, PA had the highest number of hate groups AND the highest number of members of said groups. Frankly, given where I grew up...I should be a racist! However, my mother made it a point to expose my brother and me to the world and what it has to offer...as opposed to just a little corner of it! So, I came to like people of all colors...and most of those I have issues with to this day are white! Some are even blood relatives even! Ha ha ha!

I grew up in a real tiny town and the nearest "city" of Carlisle was about 30 miles away. We had two general stores (one since closed), a restaurant, take out pizza place (which opened around the time I moved), and that was it....no gas station anymore. I believe the nearest gas station is like 10 miles away now. The nearest McDonalds was probably 30 miles away. Everything in the area was "mom & pop" type establishments. But yeah, compared to where I grew up...Harrisburg is the big city! And, anyone who knows anything about Harrisburg...it ISN'T the "big city"! Ha ha ha!

Given that you have an EXCELLENT track record (in my book anyway) for passing along VERY interesting and useful information...I actually got on my computer to read this! And, as usual, I found this to be an excellent and interesting read! Confirmed much of what I had come to believe about the whole 12/21/12 issue.

Now, I must confess that I already knew that the one peoples who should be preaching all of the 2012 "end of the world" bs, the Maya, don't believe it and know better! I also did know that the Mayan people have SEVERAL different calendars, and that the date in question was the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one...on ONE of those calendars.

What I have come to believe is that 12/21/12 is really the end of an old age and the beginning of a new one. I don't believe anything noticeably remarkable will occur on that date per se. However, I believe it will be an important date in a larger cycle of events and in ushering in said new age in the Earth's history...and in the history of mankind.

I've actually started doing meditation 15 minutes in the AM and 15 in the PM, and I noticed a difference in me already. And, I am only a novice! I still haven't mastered the art of truly clearing my mind by any stretch of the imagination, and I know I have much room for improvement before I fully master the art. But, it has still done wonders for making me more peaceable and refreshed! I have found myself as refreshed from 15 minutes of meditation as I often do from 8 hours sleep! Yet, I see all of the conflict that exists just in this country and all of the polarization that seems to reach new heights today! Sometimes, I am a part of that conflict even.

Nikki, I'm interested in what your take is on the subject and how far off my interpretation of the subject is. I know it isn't as far off as some...as I believe the whole end of the world bs is the same as those that came before it...bs! But, I'm sure I have a long ways to fully understanding and appreciating the changes that lay ahead for us all!

In closing, don't forget to buy your "12/21/12: End of the world" t-shirts that some asshole will undoubtedly be marketing! I'm fairly confident they will become collector's items....when it doesn't come to pass!

I've had this cover stuck in my head for the past few days, and while it's not as hardcore and doesnt rock as much as the orignal by the Dead Kennedy's. It's just so damn fucking sexy. I love this girl's voice and love it when she laughs

Here are my weekly musings for your reading pleasure (ha ha ha!):

1. Has anyone else tried New Skittles Blenders yet? If not...do it!

2. Does anyone else remember Vanilla Wafer Cookie Crisp? I used to love it as a kid...even more than the Chocolate Chip variety! Funny thing is, some time back when I realized they stopped making it, I called General Mills to ask about it. The customer service woman was "kind" enough to tell me that "they never made that flavor" & that "I was crazy"! Ha ha ha!

3. Why does Hollywood milk a movie franchise and/or idea to death, only to do a "reboot" & start the whole milking process all over again? Are we really THAT devoid of creativity and/or new ideas?

4. Why do fat people use handicapped parking, Rascals, electric grocery carts, etc.? Isn't that really self-defeating?

5. If being awesome and down to Earth were a crime...Nikki would be doing life!

6. Is "If your parents only had the good sense to use protection" really an insult, or is is simply a considerate public service announcement?

7. Why don't they do away with all all-star games? Do that many people really find watching millionaires literally fucking around for 2-3 hours to be compelling tv?

8. When is someone going to FINALLY step up to the plate and buy Nikki a membership in the cookie of the month club???

9. Is it strange to find a big brain to be more attractive than big boobs or a phat ass??? If so, color me strange!

10. Has anyone actually turned on "Nova," only to be disappointed to find out that it isn't actually a show about Nikki?

2. They really did make Vanilla Wafer Cookie Crisp (I think it was back when Ralston still made it)! I even remembered for a while they had a promotion where they included a full size package of Tangerine Lifesavers in every box! I even found pictures of it on the internet! That not withstanding, I was actually surprised that a customer service person would call someone crazy (literally said that)...ha ha ha!
