Woah...I didn't know Nightfly but through the boards and he seemed like a great guy. May him rest in peace
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

So much to say but not enough time tonight.
I am overwhelmed with emotion since I heard the news yesterday.
I am grateful to know that he got to know God before he passed. I have shared many chats with him over the 2 years or so that I knew him. He was someone who I came to care for as a friend and I am thankful he is no longer in pain.

Someone said why not bring his name back....Well why not rename a section for him?
I.E. Funny Pictures could be NightFly's funny pictures?
Another site I'm on had a member die from cancer. His name was attached to the humor section since it was the section he posted in the most.

He was - imo - very intelligent, thoughtful (often), funny, opinionated, troubled (apparently), proud, frustrating, well read, ambitious, helpful, defended the little 'guy' often, decent, energetic (online anyway) and for a long time, a friend. And many other things.
I thought he would be around for a long time.
I wish he was not dead unless he is happier now. Then I am glad (for him) that he is.
I wish VERY much that he had shared his demon (alcohol) with us. Told us of it.
The last conversation I had with him we had a fight. And I typed things I wish I had not.
Darn it Micheal...you could have told me. You could have told us all (your online friends and semi friends). Maybe we could have helped in some way. Maybe just the telling might have helped you.
Two things I have learned from this (at least 2 anyway).
1) Never judge a book by it's cover.
and 2) Too much pride is never a good thing.
I type this with a tear in my eye (again - so I am sappy), I hope you are happy Nightfly.
I really do.
Personally, I think that is a great idea.
Those that have been here for a few years can attest to how huge an influence he had around here. When this palce was far less popular then it is today, he helped (imo) make it much better.

I am in disbelief after hearing of this sad news. I didn't know Nightfly that well, we spoke on a couple of occasions and the occasional reply through threads. By reading his posts I will say that Fly was an intelligent, and opinionated man. He could write very well and had no problems articulating his feelings and beliefs on the board. Everyone might not have agreed with him on everything but most members that followed the threads he posted in respected him...with the exception of the occasional noob who gets banned after 2 posts.
You will be missed Nightfly, I wish you godspeed on your journey my friend. It is my hope wherever your destination may lie that you find peace.

Actually I don't think this is a good idea, sorry.
Because this then becomes a when do we stop section. Who's to know that other great members that have been here in their time haven't died. Although we don't know because they didn't have a family member or friend to pass on the news to us.
Like I don't agree with bring his name back on his posts. Or again are we going to do to all the other members that have given something to the board. That would mean all members as they all give something. Also this would mean all members who leave in the future would have to keep there names too. Even if they only made one post.
Or are we going to include such as Jod, Aces&Jacks (member/mod) in this and all the others. Jod a great member who seems to have left us. Hopefully for the love or his life and got married or something like that. Not because of something awful. As also A&J.

Just the reaction I thought I'd get from you AxxxC. As you are too close this and very emotional about it.
This isn't a moaning post or a post saying that he doesn't deserve something special. Because didn't I say something like that along those lines on MOTW last week.
But as I pointed out why just the one member, when do we call a stop to it. My points are valid and done with a sad feeling of regret. But this is a thought on why this shouldn't happen and I pointed out why.
There is many a member who leaves here and we don't know why, as I pointed out. They could have even been in something like the same situation. We just don't know.
As I said I felt like a bad guy posting that. This is because of the many fun talks and long debates I had with Michael.

NF and I rarely saw eye to eye and every argument we ever had he always seemed to come out ahead,
but I can honestly say that his loss will be felt by me and I hope he has found some measure of peace.

And FYI we have resolved this in PM and I'm honestly not happy to have upset a a member I call a friend in Asianxxxchick. Also to look like I'm dishonouring the memory of Michael.
