Nigerian attempts to blow up Northwest flight

It's quite maddening that this asshole Nigerian piece of shit was once in Club Gitmo and released so he could jump right back in with the rest of the terrorist to attack the U.S.

And the fact that this piece of shit B.O. and his Storm Troopers want to continue to release the rest of the terrorist back into society is just sickening.

But again, what do you expect with someone who has no experience at all and is nothing more than a glorified community organizer, who's running this country.

Are you saying the bomber was once in Gitmo? That is news to me.

Plus since we are not in a declared war and these hence are not POW's we eithier have to give anyone we are holding a trial (which is what they are going to do) or release them.Anything else would be totally against everything we are suppose to stand for.

Just because Congress, the corupt asses they are, have not declared war I am sure the hundreds of thousands of service men and women and veterans that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan would disagree with you. Kinda like how Congress gave Johnson the power to conduct military attack with out actually declaring war, Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. After all when we caught Vietcong/NVA troops we did not arrest them, we placed them in POW camps for the remandier of the war.

What we should do is try them as enemy combatants, sorry but that is what they are, they would still have full "rights" as an American citizen but by having the military represent the prosecution and defentants they terrorist will not be granted secuirty clearance to our classified material instead it would stay in the hands of the military where it belongs.

Honestly, I don't care for Dick Cheney, but this quote from his is pretty close to the truth unfortunately:

"As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low-key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of Sept. 11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.

“He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core Al Qaeda-trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, ‘war on terror,’ we won’t be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe. Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency — social transformation — the restructuring of American society. President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war."

A lot of the people held in Gitmo were turned over to us by people like the northern alliance (for a bounty) in Afghanistan, why they were brought to a US facility or turned over to us escapes me.

But to contend that somehow this nigerian is anything but a criminal and is POW in a war is just ludicrous. We are hurting ourselves and our reputation more than anyone else or anything else when we try to say such things.Al Queda is an international group of criminals, not soldiers in a war. They must be treated as such or our constitution is just a worthless piece of paper that we have decided to disregard because we find it convienent. If thats the case lets drop the pretense of justice and just line em up and shoot em.:ak47:

Finally some common sence from you:nanner:.

In all seriousness they should be tried with a military tribunal, sorry Friday, but with all due respect you were not there fight them and watching them kill your friends. And seeing that even though they might be criminals in your mind to the people that are fighting them they are no different than the Nazis of WWII they are aganist us and they are the enemy.

Let us remember that Congress invoked the War Powers Resolution and stated:

That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.

Using the authorization granted to him by Congress, on 13 November 2001, President Bush issued a Presidential Military Order: "Detention, Treatment, and Trial of Certain Non-Citizens in the War Against Terrorism" which allowed "individuals ... to be detained, and, when tried, to be tried for violations of the laws of war and other applicable laws by military tribunals", where such individuals are a member of the organization known as al Qa'ida; or has conspired or committed acts of international terrorism, or have as their aim to cause, injury to or adverse effects on the United States, its citizens, national security, foreign policy, or economy. The order also specifies that the detainees are to be treated humanely.

As far as I know this Resolution is still active. IMO Obama is going to turn Afghanistan into another Vietnam, the very thing they were accusing Bush was going to do.

This man was never at GiTMO.:2 cents:

It's not news. "MILF.." is just wrong as usual spouting off half-cocked, half-sleep bluster sans any research of the facts.

Jason we were fighting against a country with men in uniforms. Tell me, how can congress declare war on a band of criminals not attached to a nation's flag?

He had his chance to fuck things up...and he did royally. Cheney is interested in one, thing politics. He couldn't give a shit less about fighting a "war" on terror....The clown cared about one thing, invading Iraq...consequences and circumstances be damned.

The only "war" going on here is between Cheney vs the facts and reality.

Ok, maybe I was wrong. I could have sworn I read it in an AP news story yesterday.

Calling me wrong as usual and spouting off half-cocked facts is like the pot calling the tea kettle black. Look in the mirror, you spout off a lot of BULLSHIT. Go back to the other day where you lied, saying that I said something about that piece of shit B.O. being the reason for terrorism.

Remember that?

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Have we learned nothing from 9/11???

Legzman

Thoses that have not learned from history are doomed to repeat it.

Exactly :glugglug:

wonder when the next 9/11 will be? :dunno:

I never heard that he was detained at Gitmo in the past, that is some serious misinformation if false. However if true, he will make Willy Horton look like someone that stole a Slurpee at 7-11

That was my history teacher mothers favorite quote I think and of course it's very true.

But it's all a matter of what lesson should be learned as well.I have often said that if you had said in 1980 just a few years after the end of vietnam we are sending troops 1/2 way round the world again (Iraq and afghanistan) no one would have believed you.But give it 20 years or so for everyone to forget the lessons of vietnam and here we are.Military adventures which are not going to turn out well, how easily we forget.;)

Your right it is going to turn it into another Vietnam.

Funny how we were laughing over 20+ years ago when the Soviets were bogged down in their own "Vietnam".

Uh, no I don't because I never said that. Anddd most likely just as you misread...or read what you want to see of that AP story...you misread what I posted.

But think I'm wrong? The good thing about FOs is the post is STILL here...Post it.

I never heard that he was detained at Gitmo in the past, that is some serious misinformation if false. However if true, he will make Willy Horton look like someone that stole a Slurpee at 7-11

Abdulmutallab was never in GiTMO but he was allegedly trained by Said Ali al-Shihri. A former GiTMO detainee released in 2007....One of about 70 apparently unrepentant terrorists released by the former administration who are said by the Pentagon to have returned to terror.

Hot Mega and Philbert, will their duels become legendary?

Oh, I surely hope not....as it's not really a duel...honestly.

I'm almost embarrassed that I ever even try and pin someone down to a point or a coherent, on topic response who apparently can't understand what either one is.

But hey...:dunno:

Thoses that have not learned from history are doomed to repeat it.
The problem is that Democrats are as bad for such as Republicans.

In general, Americans -- since the Suez Incident -- have tried to tip-toe and apologetically enact a general "fairness" on the world, when everyone has agendas. The US used to keep its agendas to the Americas, and not bite off more than it can chew.

Yes, Afghanistan is a history lesson. So is Iraq. But it falls on both Democrats and Republicans. Many predicted the inactions of both Bush Sr. and Clinton, and their refusal to directly expose the selfishness and hypocrisy of both the EU and the Middle East, with regards to Iraq, would lead to all fingers pointing at the US in the end. W. was just stupid enough to give everyone the direct, undeniable excuse -- even though the US didn't cause it.

Hot Mega and Philbert, will their duels become legendary?
Philbert is a blatant right-winger, but he doesn't hide it.

What I can't stand about Hot Mega and, God help me and even worse, Friday, is how much of left-wingers they are, and won't admit it. I'll give Hot Mega some credit at times, but sometimes his apologies for Obama clearly shows he's not being objective.

I'll defend Obama just like W. when it's petty non-sense as well as "hey, the 'other party' did the same thing." But I'm sorry, blind Democrats are just as bad as blind Republicans. And their masses which excuse their actions are destroying the country.

And we've been well past the tipping point. Anyone who believes there was no outsourcing, no H1B, no losses of jobs, no screwed up financial messes, etc... during the Clinton years are just blind. Not that Clinton was "worse" than anyone else, but it was also a period of false wealth that was eradicated in his last year, and continued into the next. And there was a Republican Congress that helped accelerated it too.

Finger pointing is what really gets to me, because we solve nothing with it.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.

I think you've already been shown the error that you made there. So...

First I've heard of this. Do you have a link?

But again, what do you expect with someone who has no experience at all and is nothing more than a glorified community organizer, who's running this country.

And yet it was under Bush/Cheney that al Shihri and others at Gitmo were released. So I don't get your point. What specifically about Obama's policies (that are different from Bush's) don't you approve of? Hell, You Might say something where I agree with you. But thus far, I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

Philbert is a blatant right-winger, but he doesn't hide it.
Well Philby has other problems that are blatant but that's another thread.

What I can't stand about Hot Mega and, God help me and even worse, Friday, is how much of left-wingers they are, and won't admit it.

So I'm a "left-winger"? This ought to be easy enough and can be found on this board....What are my positions on key issues then?

I've expressed many of them on this board...

What some of YOU can't seem to get is there are people who simply agree with Obama on many more things just by virtue of common sense thinking than we don't who are not any wing.

But I most certainly admit much more disdain for GOPers than Demos..
