Keep waiting for theBruins to go on a run. Of course, if they want to wait til May/June to do it, I will be fine with that

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue

After the pitiful performance at home last night against LA, if we don't kick Anaheim's ass on Saturday this team will continue to underachieve and disappoint.....just like they have for the last 45 miserable years. We have consistently proven that we cannot beat the best Pac Division teams and, if we don't start changing that trend right away, the Blues will keep being an also-ran in the playoffs.

The St. Louis Blues....the Chicago Cubs of the NHL.  :(

We've got 2 games at Yankee Stadium coming up. Have any of you folks gone to one of these outdoor games? I looked at the seating chart and ticket prices. $150 to watch hockey from 400' away? $350 for a corner view. I can get a 200 level seat for $100 in the warmth of MSG. Am I missing something with this outdoor hockey thing?

Hype. You're missing the hype.

The game in Michigan was in easy driving distance from me. I wasn't interested. It would have been fun as all get out to be there, but watching it from so far away, and the bitter cold (people were posting pictures of their beer cups, frozen before they could drink it), and all that made it not worth it to me. Don't get me wrong, I'd have liked to be there, and if I could have purchased tickets for 20$ I would have been.

What a bunch of fucking jackasses. I hate it that people think fighting is part of hockey. No. No, it just doesn't have to be. Take out your aggression with solid forechecking, physical play, and hard skating. No where else in your life can you just punch someone when the block you, or whatever. It is not part of the game, and it's distressing that so many people treat it like it is.

/rant.

(I know that's not a popular opinion. Just punch me in the face.)

I agree with you, Dirk. I used to be of the opinion that fighting is part of hockey and that it should be that way, but I've come around on that issue. It's kind of ridiculous that fighting is allowed in a professional team sport like this. NFL, NBA, MLB, fighting=suspension/fines. It's a violent enough sport with enough potential for serious injury without allowing players to attempt to render each other unconscious by way of punching them in the head with fists. Fighting in hockey needs to be done away with. Pronto.

I'm happy to know there's at least one other person out there who thinks as I do. I have kids who are playing hockey right now. The league they are in has a strict zero tolerance policy for fighting. You throw a punch, you're out of the league for the year, maybe try again next year. Also, if your parents are the stupid idiot type of parent that screams non-stop from the bleachers, you and your parents will be ejected from the game. These are kids. The point is to let them hone their skills, have fun, and be kids. Try to turn it into a fight and there will be consequences. That pleases me.

Unless you want to be part of a big outdoor party. I would have went to the UM v. OSU game at TCF Stadium but I didn't because I was sick. But I have to say that even watching that shit on TV was pretty garbage. Bad game all around. Outdoor hockey is nice and all, and sure, it all started outside, but this shit this year with all these games is just overkill.

In baseball, you have brushback pitches and you can hit the guy with a pitch. In basketball, you have hard fouls. Vancouver is a chippy/dirty team that pisses other teams off. Every once in while, a fight likes this restores some order. No one got seriously hurt, plus these guys have grown up with it. Not like basketball players who couldn't fight their way out of a box of a pre-school.

I hate fighting in hockey. Nothing better than a great body check against the boards or a rolling hip check when someone is skating with their head down but the fights do nothing but interfere with the beauty of the game IMO. It slays me when I'm at a live game and nobody is paying any attention to what is happening until somebody drops the gloves. Then, in a fashion reminiscent of the Roman Colosseum, the entire crowd rises to it's feet in unison and emits a mighty roar as the combatants "duke it out". The "fight" always ends the same way....one (or both) of the players fall to the ice or one or the other gets his jersey pulled up and over his head.

Have you ever tried boxing while on ice skates??? LOL....what a waste of time.

Wish I was there and could have been. Because of the snowstorm there were only 2000 in the building. Had I known I would have taken a short walk to the train that gets me there in 1/2 hour. Buy my cheap seat and moved down to behind the bench.

I guess the Blues thought they were playing an ECHL game since there was no one there. They sure played like it. Worst effort of the year.
