NHL 2011 wish list

I'm a rabid hockey fan/player and EA nhl junkie so those who are with me, Mr Whaler,Bolt,STdiva,others what would you like to see addressed in the next game. Heres a couple things that annoy me.

Being able to load your custom line changes into the multiplayer matches. I like to do lots of line changes with Defense,powerplays etc but this takes way too long to do and people get impatient and sometimes drop out.

Injuries in real life shouldnt affect the online rosters.

Setting up someone for a one timer and the pass gets intercepted or blocked and the stupid computer still trys to shoot the puck and hits air like an idiot taking himself out of the play.

Better overall intellegence of the computer players so shit like the one timer thing doesnt happen amongst other computer intellect probs.

Way too many penalty shots. If a guys on a break and you insult his mother without laying a hand on him they give him a penalty shot,its very unrealistic.

Runs smoother on 360 but thats because theres 10 times as many players in the lobbies at a time on ps3. Loads of players is a great obviously but it equals more lag, so I wanna see better ps3 connections with less lag next year.

Better free agency. Patrick Marleau and Martin Brodeur, among others were free agents for 4 years before I signed Marleau and Brodeur retired.

Better trade negotiations. The computer low balls me every single trade offer. A 3rd round pick for Marc Andre Fleury? Really? And if I need a player, I have to give up a prospect, 1st rounder and "veteran star" to get him.

Better computer A.I. If I have the puck in the corner, my team just sits in one spot until I pass it to them. I'd like to see them try and get open, cycle rotation or whatever.

Better create a team system, including the ability to recreate classic teams like the Whalers, Jets, and Nordiques.

Fully customizable controls. I've tried using the thumb joystick thing to shoot and I hate it.

yeah, they dont cycle in the offensive zone for shit, they stand around with their thumbs up their asses half the time.

Being able to play WC with BAP

Be able to snipe in pucks, in 10 they were like super goalies, saving unsavable shots

A better stats system, like the one in Fifa 10, I liked that one.

Being able to play in Elitserien(kinda like the NHL of Sweden)

you should go onto the EA sports forum board there is dozens of threads for wishlists for the new game/s and the threads are pages upon pages long with most people asking for some real impossible things to be added.
i think i went on there one day and read like 2 pages and just had enough and said "fuck this everyone wants wants wants"
i dont know if these people notice but they add like 1 or 2 things new every year.i doubt they are gonna add like 8-10 or 12 things to the game.
by the time the game comes out and people like/dislike the new game they have a whole NEW list of wishes.and none of their previous wishes are put into the game
The EA board is actually pretty funny. there are a minimum of 25 threads dedicated to EVERYONE asking when the jersey code is coming out.
and one thread (locked) by Admin specifically says the code will be out (certain date) and these posters continue to ask over and over.
its a hoot, maybe check it out one day you'll get frustrated by some of the thread questions. (how do you pass in BAP mode?) i think if you read the instruction manual you would know! foolish posters

If I could pick just one of my wishes to be added next year, I would have to choose the line changes loading into the online matches with the touch of a button. Once again, I like to change lines cause I like to spread out the faster players around the lines,make better lines for powerplays/penalty kills etc and it takes too long to do it manually.

i dont play online cause i hate playing against idiots who quit or cheat to win.
but i liked the way the line changes were on 09,it was easier than everytime having to pick a foward line and a defense line and that stupid line change box comes up way too much. good thing i play BAP mode 99% vs 1% normal game

lol, thats all I play is the online. I never touch the single player unless I'm playing against someone thats in the same room....

Everyone bunches up in neurtral zone for some reason,fix it. And I absolutley hate this, if you got guys on a line that are 2 left wingers and 1 center, the computer doesnt adjust to the position they are supposed to be playing.

What I mean is, the 2 left wingers will always go to the left side messing shit up. If theres 3 natural left wingers on the same line they still have to stay center,left and right so shit dont get bunched up. The computer doesnt recognize this and they all wanna go to left wing....

Excellent ideas so far. I agree with all of them.

I'd like to add a few-

1. Being able to see a players position in "creation zone". Seems simple enough. I don't like any of my goalies wearing the same masks(or equipment) on the same team. I can get through the NHL and AHL ok without this. However, forget about all the other leagues. I don't know any of the goalies. So just having their names isn't much help(might seem stupid to most of you, but its something I think could easily be implemented).

2. More "TV like", intro's and presentation. After your team comes on the ice and the music is playing(love the custom soundtrack feature, btw). I would love to have just a little snippet of the American or Canadien National Anthem play while the players are lined up at center ice. Its been in NHL games of the past. Also, I think the inbetween period highlights(and end of game) could be done with more presentation and quality.

3. Goalie Mask Editor. Doesn't even have to be too fancy. let me swap out/move some colors, team logos/designs, numbers, and I'd be happy.

4. BAP drills to boost attributes for that gameday...or something like that. Basically give me some other routes/options to boost my players attributes.

5. More realistic coach/gm reaction about my BAP's on ice play. It just seems so canned right now. Like I can do whatever, and it won't really matter.

6. Bring back the ability to actually hook someone(with an actual button).

7. If I' going to have to assign skill points for attribute boosts, don't make me wear goofy looking equipment(unless you want to, to each their own). I don't want a "tribal" helmet, in order to assign a specific skill boost.

8. clean up EASHL(and online). they've done a good job this year. yet, there are still goals that are much higher % than others. which I guess is true in real life too, but they just seem way to easy in NHL 10. The goalies just can't stop them most of the time, and they are far too frequent.

9. better create a team options.

10. Give us some special rinks. Former Winter Classic rinks perhaps?

11. I'm a sucker for more sweaters/jerseys. You can never have enough.

12. more options for my BAP create a face. I'm not that hard of a person to make. I'm an average looking guy with short/spikey hair, and a beard.... yet my NHL BAP never looks like me. I know I can make myself look pretty authentic in other sports games. So it shouldn't be a problem here.

13. Olympic Tourney. With real rosters, and jerseys.

14. Unlockable old school/vintage equipment.

15. Heritage Teams- How bout Stanley Cup winners or something.

Also, in NHL '09, I finished the season in be a pro, and now there's nothing. No more games. No playoffs, no Stanley Cup, nothing. I was the points leader after starting the season in the AHL, and my team is in first place by a long shot. We made the playoffs. What gives?

If any of the future NHL games are like this, I won't bother getting them. What a let down

i think if your team didnt make the playoffs you need to simulate until the free agency period. then you can get 3 offers from teams. ifthat is notthe issue then.....:dunno:

He said they did. I remember in NHL 2004, you had to simulate a few days ahead. Chances are your team made the playoffs, but in the game calendar there are still teams playing; skipping three days or so should finish the season for every team and start the playoffs.

That worked! Thanks plasma! I've just been hitting "play next game" the whole time. At the end of the season, there was no "next game." I noticed there were 2 more days where other teams were playing. I simulated past them, now I'm in the playoffs! Thanks again!
