So today the league announced an offer of 50/50 split(also known as the original place they should have started negotiations). The problem is that with that kind of agreement, there is not enough revenue sharing to cover current contracts(thanks new deals right before the lockout, I'm looking at you hypocritical Jeremy Jacobs). So I expect the players to reject the deal and for owners to use this as a way to sway public opinion. Also, for those who want to watch KHL or other leagues just google it and you can find sites that stream it; just like NHL, MLB, NFL, NCAA, and soccer leagues.

The players should realize that this will be the best they get and accept it. The NHL gave them a good offer because they know the players will hold out for more; if they say no then they lose out on the best deal they could possibly get.

Marcel, I take it? I was having a hard time paying attention - I was playing NHL13 Be A Pro on my other TV, and I kept hearing them say Hossa but I never really saw him. NHL/KHL skills comp would be pretty sweet, too. That way we can finally settle the hardest shot title with a neutral gun.
Yes it was Marcel.

What kind of movies do they play on Canadian TV?

For some reason I thought you were Canadian.

Looks like the NHL didn't like the counter offer, while the players didn't like the 50-50 offer. Rage.

Also, Katz says Oilers future uncertain after deal for new arena was nixed.

They honestly didn't take the 50/50 deal? My god, the board I'm on that is strictly hockey and has a shitload of members and crazy active threads is already fucking irate.

I don't know exact details or numbers, but Bettman said the counter proposal was "disappointing" and "nowhere near close to the 50-50 deal" offered by the NHL. The PA basically rejected everything about the NHL proposal.

7 days left to land an 82 games season. I doubt that happens. I think they meet again Friday. I'm hearing if an 82 game season is nixed, the best we can we hope for is 50ish game season. A deal for that would have to be done by late November. I think the first week of December is a complete loss of season.

There was never any change of the players accepting that deal. They've said repeatedly that they would only accept a decrease in their share of the HRR if it goes down in stages. The NHL basically dropped it in a year. They would have never agreed to that.

That said, I have no idea how they can be so far away on a deal when they just put the best deal in front of them. Take it and build upon it. It's not hard.

NHL announces cancellation of 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 1
The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 1. A total of 135 regular-season games were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 1.

The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.

Does this actually surprise anyone? The surprise will be if there is any NHL hockey this year.

Don't know how the Islanders expect to play in Brooklyn for 25-years. Barclays isn't designed for hockey, so half of the arena is going to be curtained off entirely unless they reconstruct the entire thing.

The number of people who give a shit about the Islanders is minimal so I don't think it will be a problem.

They're on the right track, development wise. Tavares is going to be an absolute beast pretty soon, Neiderreitter (no fucking clue how to spell that) is supposed to be a can't miss prospect still, Hamonic is going to be a good 1st or 2nd pair D... They need to get a good tendie and they'll be in pretty good shape in a couple years.

Jesus fucking Christ this sucks. Good thing I still have game 7 of the '11 finals on my DVR in case I start having serious withdrawal.
