Tampa is up 3-2 after the 2nd, the refs start making EXTREMELY bad calls and we lose 7-4

that rolling eyes smiley does not convey my anger properly

That third goal should have been disallowed. I can't believe the ref didn't call Stafford on that and on the play when he hit Hedman in the face with his stick , only Hedman was sent to the box. NHL refs you suck big time.

If that happened in a football game the player would have been out for the entire season. Just goes to show how tough hockey players are.

exactly

i remember a few years ago a baseball pitcher in the MLB missed a couple games because he has a blister on his finger

Now just think how DETROIT feels about that kind of REFFING in the STANLEY CUP FINALS when we got railroaded out of a championship because of shitty calls by incompetent referee's?? hint: 2009 STANLEY CUP FINALS....when the Red Wings were victimized the whole series by refs that SUCK, just saying. :2 cents::cussing:

Jebus fuck. That Boston/Montreal game was just fucking disgusting. Boston was the major instigator, but the whole thing fucking sucked.

At one point, every damned player on the ice was fighting. That was not hockey, that was fucking bullshit. I turned that crap off. When else in life are you allowed to just get mad and punch people?

And don't give me the fucking line "it's part of the game." No, it fucking isn't. Get aggressive with your checks. Make them dirty, if you are a loser and have to, and accept your penalty minutes. Get mad and punch someone in the face until they bleed? Get fined, get fired, go to jail.

186 combined penalty minutes. Most in a game since 1986. Disgusting.

No way would a sprained knee keep a football player out for a whole year. Depending on what position he played more like 2 weeks. Jay Cutler had a torn MCL and it would've taken him at most 4 weeks to recover.

:surprise:

that was one of the most exciting games i have ever seen. as much as you don't want to hear it, it is absolutely a part of the game. though, maybe not to that extent.

i'm sure there will be fines. maybe a suspension or 2 for the late antics in the final minute, but to call that disgusting is crazy.

fighting is a part of the game and always will be unless the NHL wants to disappear forever. :2 cents:

LOL, football players are pussies compared to hockey players. You probably have never even watched hockey in your life. Get off this thread.

I rarely watch the NHL these days. Mostly because I hate Versus. I prefer the NHL on any other channel, I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement. Digression over.

I was hanging out, passed by Versus--saw Boston and Montreal warming up--and thought, ahrite. I'll give this a shot. I am a casual Boston Bruins fan--casual in the sense that I root for them, but I don't cry when they lose. I love the spoked B and the color combo sweater. I also hate ucla bruins, so it's tough for me to type the words "Go BRUINS!" even though, thankfully, the Boston Bruins predate the ucla gutless bruins by 20+ years or so.

That was the most exciting fooking hockey game I've seen since....dare I say it--Detroit v Colorado  back in the day?

The intensity was off the friggin hizzy. There were goals galore. There were subplots galore. Boston has had to suffer horrendous losses to the Habs in the playoffs recently and in the season recently (as TSN feed showed over and over last night). I know this rivalry has been nasty for years, but was dormant for a long time too.

Boston scored one of the goals of the year too in the 1st period which stupid fucking ESPN didn't bother showing. Versus didn't show it either, but they did after the first and second periods. The goals were great, the Habs played great too. They didn't quit at all. They took it and dished it out. That's what makes them great and great to fucking hate. You can't take your foot off the pedal. They will come back especially in Boston.

As for fighting. I have NO PROBLEM with fighting as long as it's an even square up. If we ban fighting in the NHL then ban MMA completely (which is garbage) and force all Pro Boxers to wear headgear and thicker gloves.

For the most part, the fights were square ups between guys. David Krieji is an idiot for fighting a legit Habs toughie, but how can you criticize him for not backing down? We can criticize the Habs tough guy for accepting a fight when there were other tough Bruins on the ice. That wasn't the kind of fighting that I have in mind.

The goalie fight wasn't much. I think the Habs goalie realized that it wouldn't be useful to fight and the Boston goalie realized that too. They both got in swings though.

The Boston player who went after Roman Hamlik also--that was shit. Hamrlik is a Kreiji type of skillful player who should not fight. But, he had no choice really.

The Steve Ott vs Boston player--that was a carryover fight from earlier when Dallas came into Boston. Ott can hold his own in a brawl, but obviously he got tuned up, and it wasn't his night.

The Habs probably need to look at adding another size guy because 3 of Boston's usual toughies didn't even go--Lucic, Chara and Thornton. Hell, McQuade only got his hands on someone at the end and the refs said NOPE, off you go.

I think the NHL should allow refs to end a game within the last 2 minutes when the contest is over to prevent the gooning at the end. The game was over. We didn't need that last 40 seconds even if Montreal scored a meaningless powerpplay goal.

Give the refs the power to bring the game to a close. That's all that needs to happen.

But, it was easily the game of the year, and I can't wait until Boston travel into Les Habitants land with that crowd no doubt in a frenzy...it will be MUST SEE CAN'T MISS TV.....

All American Pro Sports allow fighting and tolerate it. MLB has bench-clearing brawls. The NBA has stuff happen under the baskets after a hard foul. Football--well, hello Andre Johnson vs Courtney Lee (?). These other leagues may issue fines and bans that are tougher than the NHL, but it's hard to restrict actions of professional athletes. They get paid to play.

I have no problem banning hockey players who fight at lower levels (something below the AHL, for example). Kick them out of their leagues if you want to send a no fighting message. I think there are severe penalties for fighting in American College hockey and the Olympics, right?

I need to correct my earlier post--it was Taylor Pyatt who got clobbered by Greg Campbell not Steve Ott versus Greg Campbell as I basically wrote. My player names/info were wrong. Apologize for the mixup.

Anyone else see the highlights of the Detroit/Nashville game last night? Predators completely dominated the whole game. May it be that the Red Wings have some competition for the Central Division crown?

Damn can't believe I missed that game. Had to watch the Wild defeat the Avs, so I was preoccupied. Sounds like the Bruins game was great though.

My boy and I almost went down to the Avs game yesterday but found out Forsberg didn't get his work visa cleared yet so he wasn't there. That would have been awesome. But... we are going down to watch the Wild play the Blues on Saturday and my dad and I are going to the Aeros game on Sunday. Looking forward to that. First Wild game in some time and first AHL game since the Moose left. :nanner:

i do not have a good feeling about these next 4 games for Tampa.

Carolina, Philadelphia, Detroit, Florida.

Carolina always plays us hard, we've beaten Philadelphia 3 times this year and they're not going to go quietly, Detroit has had our number for years, and for some reason, we can't play well against Florida.

after Phoenix we play New Jersey. another team we can't seem to beat. these next 6 games could really cost us...

Fighting is not allowed in American College hockey or the Olympics. It is a game misconduct in both.
